Doctor killer because it was a mass produced high performance airplane the was relative inexpensive. So a lot of professionals (like doctors) bought it with it's 285-300 HP engine right after getting their pilot's license. So it was like getting your 16 year old a ferrari soon as he got his driver's license. Plus the instruments back in the day did no help at all with the weather.
I am well aware.
I was giving you shite because I'm pretty sure you were trying to get out "Fork-tailed Doctor Killer". It was kind of funny, come on!!

it's all relative, when I hit 500 hours, about 200 were in an F-4 and almost 200 were in an F-15, on the civilian side I don't think 500 hours is quite the same
Yea, 500 hrs in the military is nothing but for a civilian it is quite a lot.

Correct. My parents were good friends with his parents.

Quite the opposite. 500 hours in a f-4/15 is a lot of work.

Just read an article that says the plane basically feel apart in mid air. That is crazy.

Some of the articles indicated he'd communicated with air traffic control about landing options and had been descending. They knew something was wrong, I would assume. So darn tragic.

Article from Unfiltered with more about the flight before it broke up.
LINK
"Flight records indicate the plane “was destroyed following an inflight breakup and impact with terrain near Franklin, TN.” The pilot and two passengers died in the crash.
Flight records also show the plane cruising at 7,000 feet before climbing to 9,600 feet. Then, there was a rapid descent.

Comparing a 50 year old single engine prop plane to a modern commercial airline is just silly.

She was graduating from the veterinary school, and the son with an engineering degree. Both seemed to have bright futures ahead of them.

If he flew thru some convective sigmets could easily explain the rapid decent. Thunderstorms have huge amounts of energy that can push an aircraft like that up or down thousands of feet per minute well exceeding the structural capability of the wing spars.

In case you didn’t know Walt is a parody account.

Prayers go out to the family. Iwill never get in a small planeor on a motorcycle. Lost a friend couple weeks ago in small plane crash in Georgia.

So sad. Prayers for the family.
Back in the early 70s I had 20 hours toward my PPL and a mere 11 solo when my finance told me it was either flying or her.
It was an easy decision. I dug flying but I think I wasn’t really cut out for it. Was not great at landings because I hated using flaps. Lol. A wise decision as well.
My best friend took lessons with me. Four years later he flew into a thunderstorm near Beaumont, killing himself and three others.
I swore off riding in private planes smaller than a King Air.

I worked with Giselle during her clinical rotations at the vet school. This is horrible news. We are all devastated.
