New Orleans International Airport just reported a peak wind gust of 84 mph (11:27 pm) Thursday night
I believe it. I live right by the airport on the Airline side. Things got intense for about 5-10 minutes. Couldn’t even see out my front door. Just blue and white flashes and a lot of crashes and creaks. Heavy rain going sideways. I see a tree fell on or just grazed the house across the street.
Just cranked up the generator just to run a fan to make it through the rest of the night.

Left the Brooks and Dunn concert about 11:00 and by the time we got on Bonne Carre, the wind roared and rain was sheeting like a car wash. Most everyone pulled over and the car was rocking some. Lots of tree debris on the road once we got going. Pretty terrifying.

We got stuck on the Bonnet Carre at the same time, same reason. I have never experienced anything like that before. Thought we were in the middle of a tornado; I was waiting for the car to get pushed into the road or something.

Just lost power in old Metry.
WST was messing with me earlier with a power flickage here and there but the power is still strong around here.

Finally landed at BTR an hour ago. That was an interesting flight.
They overbooked the one from DC. To whoever took the $500 voucher to take tomorrow’s flight: you made the right choice.
Noticed lots of trees down. Not sure if it’s from todays storm or Monday’s storm.

Bonnet Carre feels like a damn tornado came through. I got a tornado warning and winds were out the west pushing my truck right then everyone slowed and next thing I know winds are coming from the east
Our car was also being pushed to the right, just before we pulled to the shoulder. I saw this posted from around that time. Does that mean there actually WAS a tornado?
I’m just glad everyone seemed to have made it over the bridge safely

Took my dog out this morning in Old Metairie and lots of small tree debris. Looks like a tropical storm came through.

No power in uptown. So much for Entergy's "hardened" grid.
A hardened grid doesn’t mean you can’t lose power. It means it can be restored quicker.
Let’s see how they respond.

Also it will take a hot minute to build up to that standard.
Some of it will mean new poles by spacing them closer together and encasing the base in tubes. And using concrete poles where needed. If you thought a wooden pole falling on your car would leave a mark, a concrete one may make it a pancake.

How Big Lee’s house do?
Wind ripped down my gate and blew the basketball goal down. Must have been some nasty shite. I’ve got some work to do this weekend.

My house was making very weird noises last night, or the wind whipping through the neighborhood was. It was groaning. Almost bellowing like a gator, if that makes any sense.

My rain gauge in Shenandoah is slightly above 7 inches of rain. 7.2 inches total from just last night

Is there more coming 5/17? Or mostly past the New Orleans area. Last night around midnight the Clearview/Trancontinental area got what felt like Tropical storm conditions. Power out until about 7a.

Looks like 75% of Kenner is still without power this morning.
Seems like a lot of schools in the JP had to send out closure notices this morning
