That's a good number but

33% of his shots were assisted.

That seems pretty low as evidence of "killing the ball hog narrative"

I don't even think that matters in the way we think it does though. BI failed not because he didn't shoot enough 3s or play within the offense. He failed because a guy like Dillon Brooks could shut him down before he even passed the 3 point arc with the game on the line. Trae may also not run the coaches preferred offense when the game tightens up, but I would expect the Pels to get a shot off instead of stacking empty possessions in the 4th as the defense ramps up and the Pels watch their lead dwindle.

Coaches and teammates have complained for years that he's an assist-chaser and often chooses the pass that is most likely to result in an assist versus the pass that keeps the offense moving. Frankly, Ingram has shown some of that at times, as well. However, there's way more smoke around it being a real issue for the team and coaches with Trae.

Better than Brunson who nobody talks about as a ball hog.

Only 3% less than Halliburton who nobody labels a ball hog.

The commonality between those players is they are the primary ball handlers and runners off their teams offense, so their assisted shots will naturally be lower, but doesn’t mean they’re a hog.
