Oh, so the police department doesn’t patrol your neighborhood or answer your 911 calls if request officers?

but you don’t benefit in any way from anyone who has attended a public school?

I want tax credits for what I personally contribute to the police system and fire department. I don’t use those services. ETA: and to incarcerate people. And to run the courts.

I would agree but you or anyone in your home can ever call 911, EMS police or fire ever again.

School choice is immensely popular. It's one of the most popular GOP policy planks.

Something that has proven to be a failure is popular with a political party? Shocking.

And people who don’t want to pay for public schools can never interact with anyone who went to public school ever again.

what I dont want, is bad kids parented by bad people flooding into private schools.

I really don’t think you’ll see a lot of this. Bad parents generally don’t care enough about their kids to get them to private school. I also don’t think you’ll see that many of them try to utilize this program. Once they see they’re not gonna be able to sign up just get a lump sum of $X000 of and that they have to show documentation from an approved vendor for what they’re using the money for and the check will only be that specific amount they’ll balk on it.

What worries me is the parents, albeit with good intentions, who are going to use this program to homeschool their children themselves who have no business teaching

Parents should have school choice . If the public schools were as good as democrats claim then they would be upset with school choice . The problem is this gets more kids out of the democrats control and weakens the democrat school unions .

I went to Catholic school and taught in public schools here. I know which one offers a superior education and sent my kids there.

How much experience do you have with public schools in New Orleans? Curious to know what your experience was like.

So if the state said hey if your kids can get into X private school and you qualify for a $7500 per student per year voucher. Would you accept that?

You mean the same voucher system that ya boi Obama even praised for its success in DC? The one that saw an uptick of graduates to 90% for kids that went into it from the 70% graduation rate of public schools? That one?

a LINK that works

quote:

Proponents point to parent satisfaction, as well as high graduation and college acceptance rates. Nearly 90 percent of students who participated in the voucher program graduated during the 2020-2021 school year, data show. About 73 percent of students in public schools graduated that year.

I’m torn on this.
In theory I like the idea but it’s the implementation and practice that worries me. Especially in Louisiana.

But at the same time my rule of thumb is that anything the teacher’s union is against is a good thing and I’m all for it.
