True.

Not sure why it bothers some so much.

Be honest, how much are the lower 50% learning? The average adult reading level in this country is between the 7th and 8th grade level.

Do you actually think we are getting any value from this?

You really get this upset when someone has the audacity to have a different opinion than you?

You sound very well-adjusted.

You don’t live in Louisiana, as far as I know.

What a stellar debating tactic.

Some of the lowest value schools in the country.

You have no idea where I live.

Like I said, that doesn't matter. People like you live and vote in every state.

you are so dramatic. I asked if we can be considered pro-life if we don’t want ensure all kids have access to food over the summer.

Drama Queen.

Well. Libsofticktock has outed enough loon teachers that it shouldn’t be surprising.

Still horrifying though as you said.

Can you compare your experience with local Catholic schools and New Orleans public schools?
I went to Catholic schools in Acadia parish, so I can’t compare them to New Orleans public schools.

But I can definitely compare it to public schools in the parish, and I can without a doubt say it’s a better education than the public schools. Much better standard test scores, ACT and SAT, college acceptance rates and graduation rates.

I’m not saying the Acadia Parish public schools are terrible like the New Orleans public schools, but the private schools are just better.

Your personal tax dollars aren’t spent on my kids was my point. I really don’t care where you live.

This doesn’t prove the quality of education. This only proves that some kids perform better on standardized tests. There could be some overlap but if any kid graduates or scores well, isn’t that proof that the education is quality?

I taught in public schools so I understand the issues that hold some students back that are totally beyond anything the teacher or school can control. If someone has shitty parents who don’t engage with or nurture their kid, sending that kid to Newman or Episcopal won’t suddenly make him smart.

Who's upset? Just because you communicate with your emotions doesn't mean everyone else does.

How many kids were going to starve to death over the summer? How many were even going to lose 10 pounds?

They'll say no strings attached, and that may be true .....for now. But, it's the government you are relying on and as such no guarantees. Also if I'm the institution I seriously have to think about it . Government always comes with strings and they can always add more of them depending on the political climate.

Louisiana would be cheaper if it hired an adult to teach every 5-6 kids in their own home.

Probably have a better education too.

Where in the bible or any book of morality, does it tell me to force people to give up their money at gunpoint so that lazy parents can feed their kids?
