Is Tommy White a first round draft pick?

Thought at the start of the season he was top 10. Seems he may have dropped out of top 10. But just curious if he is still a first round. I don’t see him making it past the second for sure.

Yes. The questions about him had nothing to do with his bat. His fielding was the issue. He has answered those questions this year by playing awesome at 3rd.

His bat to ball skills and power make him an R1 guy. The production is there. And he’s more sudden and nimble on defense than people expected. Far from a liability. He won’t get drag bunted in the MLB. High floor prospect you’d think

No, Great hitter. Does not run well. His offensive stats are good enough, but his defense is just average. Early second rounder. Maybe a DH in the AM League as a 1st rounder. His position hurts him, there are a lot of better 3rd baseman out there. Not tall enough for a 1st baseman.

MLB.com currently has him 16th rated prospect including HS players.
Same list has
Holman 56
Jump 65
Hurd 101
Bear 116
ETA - MLB.com mock draft posted today had Tommy going to Blue Jays at pick number 20.

Tommy's offensive numbers are down but that was to be expected because of the people that left but he definitely has proven that he can play that hot corner and play it very well. He IS definitely a first rounder.

Tommy hits the ball opposite field as good as anyone I have ever seen in an LSU uniform. It is impressive.

If he’s not ALOT of clubs will regret it. His hitting to all parts of field is already there , he has power and avg
Plus I can’t remember one throw from 3rd that wasn’t a laser.

Yes, the hitting is very good but his defense at third has separated him from others. He will get professional coaching with his hitting approach and he will be great. Natural talent.

The way I see Tommy is this.
Great bat, not tall enough for first.
His 3b play has been really good and he can snap his throws to first.
He may not go first round but he will find a way into a mlb roster because he is a straight up baseball player. He will do and figure out what he needs to do.
Could see him leading a 2A or 3a team in hits.
I have also noticed he has started not just looking to hit home runs. He knows how to ch she directions of the ball and can always be counted on to get a base hit if he is not thinking homer.

Yes. Hardest tool to project is the bat. Nothing is a sure thing but he has one of the most proven bats available.

Maybe. But only thing he’ll do in the Show is DE

Why would he drop? He has over 20 HRs and has improved his fielding tremendously. I would not be shocked in the least if he went pro. I could see him coming back, but he could also leave and be just fine.

Yep. The Nationals gonna grab him.
