Well, it’s really easy to say that- after thousands of years of Judeo-Christian values shaping the world.
Humans did not need an arab dude from 3000 years ago to come down a mountain with some stone tablets to tell them that killing other people was bad.

Of course. There is an objective standard of morality. Where do you think it comes from?
our well developed brain. You ever killed an animal? even knowing you're going to eat the animal it still has a feeling of sadness that you took it's life. Christians didn't tell me it was bad to kill animals to eat, but somehow i still feel bad about taking that life.
quote:
You sure about that? That’s like saying “I have a credit card. I can spend as much money as I want.” But, when that bill comes… oof.
what a stupid arse comparison that makes no sense.
The only fear a christian has is going to hell for eternity, which no one can prove exists. There is no tangible consequence from god if you steal your neighbors shite.
quote:
My whole point is that this is in direct violation of the objective standard of morality- and we are living the consequences in real time.
Christianity, or the lack of it, has nothign to do with people being shitty and having no morals like you say. They know what they are doing is wrong, they just don't give a shite, and certain people have been that way for thousands of years. It's not new.

Seems like they could put in place some type of ethical, moral, action code without it being 10 Commandments?
The Burger court in Stone v Graham said as much. The first 4 commandments are the issue. The rest would be fine.

so with all the private schools becoming publicly funded, they are no longer exempt from displaying?

How odd.

Your right in that the moral laws did not originate with Moses.

Can anyone prove it doesn’t exist? Can anyone prove the origin of the universe?

Moral objectivity isn’t exclusive to Christians. It almost feels like your making an argument for moral objectivity.

Landry was commanded by God to do this. I just know it.

They would have chosen the Jewish version (Mitzvot) of the Commandments but they didn't have enough walls.

This wasn’t Landry’s doing. This is on Dodie Horton who does nothing else but write these retarded bills. Last year she wrote a bill requiring every public school classroom to display “In God We Trust” and it passed.
We received those signs about a month ago at the school where I teach. I don’t know if the signs are the same statewide, or if they were produced by each school system. Whichever the case, the person who chose the font for ours made a bad choice. It looks like it says “In Goo We Trust”.

I assume we're going to also use taxpayer dollars to make sure we have signs like this for all the faiths in all of our schools?

Well, I believe you, but it started in the garden of Eden, so you’re gonna need to show me evidence that humans knew before that.

Well, that’s a very conveniently vague answer. Paul actually described it perfectly, nearly 2000 years ago:
Romans 2:14–16 (NASB95): 14 For when Gentiles who do not have the Law do instinctively the things of the Law, these, not having the Law, are a law to themselves, 15 in that they show the work of the Law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness and their thoughts alternately accusing or else defending them, 16 on the day when, according to my gospel, God will judge the secrets of men through Christ Jesus.
quote:
what a stupid arse comparison that makes no sense.
Really? Nothing? Ok. Let’s try another.
Let’s at you get a speeding ticket. Are the consequences immediate? No. But, knowing what you know about the justice system (when it works properly ), do you think that you can escape judgement? Are you going to be so cavalier as to say “there are no consequences?” Nope. You’re going to go to court, see the judge, accept his ruling, and pay your fine.
quote:
The only fear a christian has is going to hell for eternity
You say that as if it were nothing. But, let me tell you something. For me- it started out that way. Afraid to go to hell. But, as my relationship with God has progressed, my fear of going to hell has been replaced by a genuine love and reverence for Him; accompanied by a strong trust-based desire to submit to His authority, and to receive all that He has in store.

No one can prove that you won’t die in a horrible car accident- but I bet you still drive a car.

Got any data to back that claim up?

Yes, I agree. The Bible is full of examples of this.

This was done in Texas under the guise of religious freedom.
So of course someone tried to force districts to also pin up Koran verses. Then the legislature had an emergency session to write up some amendment to handle that. I believe our tax dollars are still being wasted in court over this shite.
