Most of the founders weren't Christian. It is amazing the total lack of mention of religion in government until religious nut jobs from Europe started spilling over across the Atlantic.
Like was stated, the "In God we Trust" was added to some coins as wartime propaganda. How does that make you feel, knowing that government abused religion to influence citizens? Kinda like a governor putting posters of the Ten C's in public schools.
