I agree. Discount Tire carries my tire. So does Walmart. But the road hazard warranty is through Sam's Club. I went with Sam's Club because it is included in the price of the purchase.

Never patch or plug a sidewall tire puncture. It will not last and then your safety is also to be considered if it were to blow out on the side.

I've gotten tires fixed like hers was that I've driven on for the life of the tire. Totally in the sidewall is a different story.

Yeah, on my own vehicle, I wouldn't think twice about it.
My wife's car though... that would worry me every time she left the driveway.

I think you’re missing the suggestion… I believe what he and others are suggesting is to see if you can convince your local Sam’s to either order from a different wholesaler for this one off. Or at a minimum give you an equivalent gift card that you could use for other merchandise and simply buy outright the tire online or whatever and have it mounted.

Ask for 2 new replacement tires, so you can at least have matching tires on each axle.

Would you do the same axle, or the same side so it won’t be as obvious you have 2 different sets.

OP: As someone else mentioned, I’d see if I could get an instore gift card for the cost of you purchasing the tire from a different shop.

Being that you have only 5000 miles on them. I would tell them to find me a new matching tire or replace all 4 at no cost

I’m surprised they are honoring the road hazard. I had a set of Yokohama Geolanders on my truck that I bought local. I busted the sidewall with very few miles and my local guy laughed in my face when I asked about the warranty.

Correction: They weren’t Geolanders. I just remembered they ordered Geolanders and then installed Mastercrafts. The mastercrafts blew out the sidewalls. Hated those tires.

If the tire is still being produced, Sam's can get it & they must.

Same axle
Different tire treads and wear amounts on opposite sides will cause problems in handling and braking, especially on wet roads.
Functionality trumps appearance every time.

Yes, the tire is still being produced and sold elsewhere. I'll see what my local Sam's Club can do.

As a last resort, I am open to this.

Do you have the terms of the warranty? Interestingly, I can’t seem to find them online. All I can find is a note that says:
quote:

Complete terms and conditions of all Sam's Club warranties and services can be obtained at any Sam's Club Tire and Battery Center location.

To me it seems they should either A) purchase the tire elsewhere or B) give you a credit for the value of the tire if they aren’t willing to purchase it.

Sam's Club fully refunded me the price of the tire and installation, and I was able to purchase the same exact tire at another tire shop and have it installed.

After I got my money back from Sam's Club, I drove to the other tire shop. Low and behold, I picked up another screw in my sidewall, on a different tire, and it was unrepairable as well. So, the tire shop replaced that tire as well, and I have to go back to Sam's Club to get my money back on that tire.

Not sure how I picked a nail driving on Siegen to Airline Highway, but I did. I know for a fact I didn't have a screw in the tire the day before as I just had my tires rotated and balanced.

Read the warranty terms and conditions to see what it says about discounted tires.

Also you can try to get a refund for the warranty.

Go to the store and talk to a store manager. 1-800 is not going to help you

Nobody pays attention to the tires on your car.

Nobody looks at them and thinks, “What a loser! This dude’s tires are all different so he makes poor life choices and is not to be trusted.”

Take the warranty tire and life will still go on.

Yeah good luck on this one. Sounds like you just wanted 2 new tires to have tread equal. Doubt they will reimburse you if you didn’t show them the screw first and start the same process with refund you did for the other one

Not true. All 4 tires had 5000 miles on them. I have an AWD vehicle and mismatched tires can cause issues with traction, steering, and braking.

I ended up doing this. The 800 # is outsourced to another country, and you're right. They aren't helpful.
