I have a dog that has some pit in it. You absolutely would never be able to tell and I have to show people the embark test to prove it to them and they still don’t believe me. The dog looks like a schnauzer.

Dog is the light of my life and the best companion you could ever want. Not an easy dog by any means but seeing how excited she gets meeting people melts my heart so all the hard work is worth it

Yeah she needs to be cared for better than her previous owners.

If she let you pick ticks off her for 4 hrs she is a legitimate good girl keeper.

Just spent half an hour and got another 50+ ticks off. The meds are already doing their thing as they were all dead.

Bella is a good name.. we will see what the family thinks. They already shot down my suggestion of crystal methany. My other dogs name is Charlie murphy

My girlfriend (now wife) and I lived upstairs in an apt complex years ago. The wind was picking up one night and so I walked outside to see if it's about to start raining. A 3 month lab/golden retriever mix with tons of fleas was coming down the street and either smelled or heard me, and came walking up the steps to me. She was a lil little on the skinny side, but not bad. Figured she might have escaped a couple days before. I asked around the neighborhood/subdivision by us, posted on FB, and put flyers up. No one claimed her. 10 minutes after walking up to us, it started storming. We took her in the apartment and cleaned her up and gave her water. I slipped to the local dollar tree to get some puppy chow. She ate a serving well.

She never left our home for 13 years until she got sick and passed. She was the first thing my wife and I was responsible for together. She found us. And she loved both of our kids like they were her own. Her death shook us hard.

She might murder you one day, but I bet if you love her enough it will be some bad guy she murders one day.

Might have her checked for a chip just to make sure a family isn't missing her.

I had an encounter with a sweet stray this week. I already have 3 dogs who are more than a handful. Sucks that I we can't save them all sometimes.

Beautiful dog. You have a big heart caring for her. May very well have some pit in her. I would be very cautious since you have a young child in the home. First sign of aggression (snarling, growling and tail tucked) with your child and I'd get the dog a new home immediately.

Older mutts are the best. Though I once had a senior border collie stray I adopted who was fabulous.

This thread has me in my feels tonight.

Definitely some breed of peace in her but idk. Just keep her away from the religion of peace and you probably don't have to worry too much about being murdered

I've found that strays are some of the most well behaved, loyal dogs you can find. Looks like a keeper to me

I bought a used truck from a guy one time. We got to talking about the scars that were all over one side of his face and neck. Seems he adopted a dog from the local shelter and was taking it home to his family. Along the way, he stopped to let it out to pee before he got home. For some reason, as he was putting the dog back into the car, his face got close to the dog and the dog lunged at his face and violently ripped into his skin, tearing shards of flesh from his face and neck. He needed several rounds of cosmetic surgery to even come close to looking normal. His take on the situation was “ thank God I bent down and the dog attacked me instead of one of my kids”. Moral of the story: before you take a dog home to your family, stop and kiss it and see if it rips your face off?

Definitely has a little pit in her. Maybe not enough to kill any kids though.

I worry about kids around a dog like that

Nope. All three are 100% gentle with people and especially kids.

What’s with the DV. Our first two strays are 13 and 14yo and our boys have been with them nonstop since boys were born. And the new one is equally gentle and goofy with them even when tortured with “horseback” rides and aggressive play.

None of them has pit or if it does, it’s waaaay watered down by other mutt stuff. Goofy boxer/lab personalities and then the wolf is a shepherd who likes to swim. Onoz!

That dog would fit in perfectly at a shelter with all the other pit mixed dogs. Why take a chance when you have kids and there are plenty of other dogs to adopt.
