John Ford would laugh, punch you in the face and explore the possibility of having you killed for this.

It’s an incredible scene. My favorite from that film is actually when he begins his journey to the frontier with Timmons and we start to see the beautiful scenery with the epic score. Just elite in all facets. I have seen DWW about 150 times… that scene with the score and imagery still moves me. I remember watching it in a van on the way to ski the Rocky Mountains in my freshman year of high school and knew for a fact I wanted to explore this world the way Dunbar did.

I always thought this one was pretty spectacular. Bet a lot of outlaws got rid of those silver studded saddles after they heard about what Jack Beauregard did here.

Chase scene in Man From Snowy River is up there with the best.

They still do. I went on a Buffalo hunt in the Henry Mountains with a buddy of mine.

So you’re biased. We can’t trust you!

This is a good quality thread on a good discussion topic referencing a great cinematic moment.

No need to go all “grandest spectacle“ and all that.

Not sure of the caliber of that Winchester rifle, but no way that rifle shot is taking down an adult buff who is charging.

Correct

It’s a .44 Henry rimfire. Bullet would be 200-220 grains in weight at about 1100 fps. Similar to a.44 special, which is weaker than a.44 magnum. That’s not bringing down a buffalo like that.
