I would not avoid service of criminal paperwork, and always advise my clients to process ASAP. You risk being labeled a fugitive and having your bail denied if you display evasive behavior pre-arrest.

Some of the usual resident ideologues absolutely understand exactly what all of this spiteful, fascist lawfare nonsense is about; they just happen to get off on their dopemine high whenever a target like Rudy or Trumps or conservative gets publicly abused.
They are no friends of justice or truth.
