Damn. Forgot about Freddy

Is Mike Ryan still pimping Chevrolets? You'll get great deals and great service and he'll guarantee it.

Part II of growing up in North Louisiana:

"Amber Herring, Herring Furniture in Strong. Where you can drive a little & save a lot"

Lewis Furniture closeout commercials.

91.1 in the 90s-Quite possibly the greatest alternative radio station ever

Judy Waggoner & Lanny James on KNOE

Holidays with Victor.....where everything was just fabulous....

Yep 91.1 was the best college station, hell any station, I've ever heard.

Carlos Funchess and Anthony Jones were two of the most dynamic basketball players I've ever seen.

Absolutely. Greyhound Jones streaking down the lane and 360ing on some poor dudes head was a sight to behold. That run Mike Vining had thru those years was incredible. Had Larry Carr after Jones and Funchess. Big Dance every year and would put the fear of God in the likes of Mike Krzyzewski. Good shite

I learned all I ever wanted to know about sandbags in 1991. It was hard work but the fine folks in River Oaks Subdivision didn't turn their noses to the working class when their homes were about to be gutted. They even bought beer and Johnnys for everybody almost every day during that flood.

since the topic drifted from NLU to Monroe in general, how about in the late 50's/early 60's, KMLB's radio show "hits for the missus" and "luncheon at the francis." The Francis Hotel was downtown on Desiard, and it had a restaurant. I think the radios station was in the same building. Every day between songs, a DJ would wander around the restaurant with a live mic interviewing the big time locals having their power lunches. Mayors and judges were often in attendance.

then paul harvey came on.

I heard Lanny James on the radio a month or so back. Couldn't believe my ears when that same old song from his Friday night HS football show started playing.

Money Sonny and Friendly Finance is a commercial I remember. AS well as Rocky and Bullwinkle at 5:30 or so on Sat am, and commercials for the Ernie Miles Show.
