Be thankful you, "Don't get it."

It's not something anyone wants and while it may be irrational it's still a constant battle for someone suffering with it.

I use to be as ignorant as you once. When I was younger I had the same outlook on people who claimed to be depressed. I didn't think it was real and that they were just not trying or they wanted attention.. it's hard to fully understand something unless you go through it... and even then no two situations are ever the same.

What really sucks is knowing you aren't rational.. knowing fully well these coping techniques aren't keeping you alive.. but still experiencing the awful symptoms associated with it.. and continuing to experience the anxiety related to it almost 24/7.. it's absolute torture and difficult to escape from. It actually becomes physical pain... it takes such a toll..

Deep down there are so many battles going on inside that mind.. simply "get over it" isn't so simple. We're all wired differently and there may even be other underlining causes.. some people with silver fillings that got them removed have instantly felt better emotionally.. that's just one example. Lack of certain vitamins or nutrients could be another. Who knows. A lot of it is built of reps or practice and overcoming it takes new repetitions of healthier habits.. etc.

you're brain causes you do to do things that other people thinks is weird. There isnt anyone in the world that has the perfectly working brain. And if you think that, then your narcissism and arrogance is the brain issue.

People with OCD and axiety have brains that just work a little fast. When I say fast, I'm not talking about working better than others. It's an ineffecient type of fast.

I constantly count everything I do and see (cars I pass while driving, steps, people in rooms, etc). I prefer things to be in groups that are multiples of 6, specifically 12, 24, 48, or 96. For instance if I bounce a ball I have to bounce it 95 more times before I do anything else. I've been on medication for it for years and done behavioral therapy in the past. Stressful situations make it worse. As I've gotten older I can control my thoughts better, but it still takes up a considerable amount of my daily life.

It drives me crazy when I hear people claim to be OCD when they have no idea what they are talking about.

I had it pretty bad growing up. Didn't even know what it was called til later in life. Doesn't consume me now.

Minor OCD. Gotta use Arial Font and consistent formatting techniques on all spreadsheets.
I think we all have a touch of this. what about if there are trees outside of a condo slider door to get to your car and if you don't walk to your car between and under the trees something bad will happen.

My tennis partner knows that when she looks back to the service line and I'm alternating placing my left foot then my right on the line it's time for us to "strategize" so I can take a breath before I serve.

BTW, you are confusing the service line with the baseline. You serve from the baseline.

One son was diagnosed with it but most people have some of that. I do some things that I may repeat and/or go through a bit of a ritual at times I suspect.

At about 10 years old my son started repeating actions until something felt right. Never got real bad but it bothered him so we sought medical assistance. He learned to deal with it as he aged and can control those urges.

Yeah. Typed too fast. Think I would have gotten that correct after 2 matches in 2 days.
