I, Valley, outlandeagle & other GSU posters have said we give credit where it is due. I can't see any of the LSU fans saying the same thing. I guess the LSU fans are to prideful.
You really think this board is an accurate snapshot of the LSU fanbase??
Wait until gameday chief, you'll be blessed with cajun food and beer like youve never seen.
As long as you're not ole miss, bama, aTm, or UF you'll be welcomed to baton rouge.
Dont let the losers on this board trick you into thinking thats how LSU fans are.

Augusta Tiger, Agree with you on the move to FBS. In FCS GSU had a legitimate chance to play for a championship. Sure it was a lower level but Championships meant something. In FBS we're just a nobody that will never play in a National championship. At least not in my lifetime.

quote:No difference than LSU not scheduling ULL, ULM, or LaTech. Arkansas not scheduling Arkansas State. Alabama or Auburn not scheduling Troy, South Alabama or Troy.
UGA won’t schedule Southern anymore, and the other games are just one offs- no real rivalry development besides State.
You cannot denied that the rivalry with Troy is growing. This is on top of the long standing rivalry with AppSt.

Excuse me, Texas State and Arkansas State. Just proves my point on how the distance + insignificance of the opponent makes most fans not care. And you can’t deny that the program was more fun to watch and follow when we were playing in the Socon. UGA won’t schedule Southern anymore, and the other games are just one offs- no real rivalry development besides State. I know they are trying to push the Coastal Carolina thing- but it feels forced.
1st off, you know nothing and should be embarrassed trashing your former school just because you want to suckle on the teat of an SEC school. Obviously you don't know who we play or you'd know that App State is our biggest rival, followed by Troy, Arkansas State and the rivaly with gagstate is still in it's infancy. In fact, App was ranked in the top 25 when we demolished them at Paulson last year in a well attended Thursday nationally televised night game. I've been a true blue eagle fan since Erk Russell was introduced as head coach in 1981 and now that we're FBS, we're getting larger crowds, better recognition and opportunities to go to bowl games. After going to FBS, we finally broke the attendance record set in the 1989 National Championship game held in Statesboro(never did it in the 25 years following that game as an FCS team), and we've taken several larger programs to the wire. When we finally break through and start beating larger programs regularly, you'll want to hop back on the GS bandwagon. Now, as far as "fun to watch" we'll be travelling en masse to Baton Rouge. You sure wouldn't see crowds like we'll be bringing at Maine or Delaware even if it were the FCS playoffs. The Citadels, Furmans, and Woffords are behind us now. App State, (sometimes)Troy, Arkansas State and us ARE Sunbelt football now, get used to it.

quote:Yes Georgia Southern is proud of its 6 NCAA National Championships which is 6 more than LSU has in football. Key word from the above statement is NCAA. With the way the FBS football Championship is set up today over half of the schools playing at the FBS level are in the same boat as Georgia Southern. GS fans knew this when our school moved up to FBS. Moving up was the right decision for Georgia Southern. Below is a list of only the schools that have moved up to FBS that Georgia Southern played in the FCS playoffs.

Valleygirl, check your facts. And I submit that 3 NCs with the big boys trumps 6 with the lower tier little boys.

LSU claims 3 National Championship which I have no problem with but still they are not true NCAA Football Championships. One that LSU claims is listed below.
The 2003 college football regular season ended with three one-loss teams in BCS contention: the LSU Tigers, Oklahoma Sooners, and USC Trojans. USC ended the regular season ranked No. 1 and LSU No. 2 in both the AP Poll and the Coaches' Poll. Media controversy ensued when the BCS computer-based selection system chose LSU and Oklahoma as the participants in the BCS title game, largely based on an assessment of the relative difficulty of the three teams' 2003 schedules. During the bowl games, LSU beat No. 3 Oklahoma 21–14 in the Sugar Bowl (designated as the BCS National Championship Game for the 2003–04 season), while USC defeated the No. 4 Michigan Wolverines 28–14 in the Rose Bowl. LSU was ranked No. 1 in the final Coaches' Poll, and USC remained No. 1 in the final AP Poll.
The regular season ended with three one-loss teams in BCS contention: Oklahoma, LSU and USC. USC ended the regular season ranked #1 and LSU #2 in both the AP Poll and the Coaches' Poll. USC lost one triple-overtime game at California, which finished 8–6; LSU had a 12-point home loss against a Florida team that went 8–5; Oklahoma, which had been ranked #1 for most of the season, fell to #3 after suffering a 35–7 defeat in the 2003 Big 12 Championship Game to Kansas State, which finished 11–4. Controversy erupted when the BCS computers selected Oklahoma–LSU as the BCS title game. During the bowl games, USC had a convincing 28–14 win over #4 Michigan in the Rose Bowl while LSU beat Oklahoma 21–14 in the Sugar Bowl (designated the BCS title game). USC remained #1 in the final AP Poll with 48 of the 65 votes, and LSU was ranked, by contractual obligation, #1 in the final Coaches' Poll, though three coaches did not follow instructions and voted USC #1 in that poll as well.
Which of these two teams was the true National Champion. The answer is both because there was not a true National Championship playoff system.

What has or has not happened previously with either team has ZERO bearing or influence on what is about to happen to your team Saturday.
What ever trophies you may have in a cabinet on our campus will be of little solace after the beat down you gonna get in Tiger Stadium Saturday nite!!

Besides the final score, did you enjoy your trip to Baton Rouge? Please let us know about your experience.

This is wrong. There was a playoff system in place called the BCS. Before the season started everyone agreed to the rules on how the two teams would be selected for the championship game. The two teams selected were LSU and Oklahoma according to the previously agreed to procedure. USC was butt hurt they didn't get selected and the AP agreed. Nonetheless, the true and only champion in 2003 is the one with the BCS trophy.....LSU.

Curious to see what these hillbillies will have to say, assuming they can get off their sisters and make it to a computer. They weren’t even funny or witty. I guess they were being serious about thinking they were anything but a chew toy for Mike and were going to actually be in the game.
