Just moved here and won't have my boat for a month or so. Any spots around Scott to catch a few in the afternoons after work?

I don't know of any places near Scott, except maybe the ponds at Pellican Park? I don't know if the public is allowed to fish there or not. You may have to travel into the city to find bank fishing. There's a camp ground in Breaux Bridge you can go to and pay to fish some stocked ponds, or you can go near the airport where there are a few.

There’s a KOA with a big stocked pond off of the I-10 Scott/Cankton exit.

I was unaware of this. I wish I would have known the 8 years I lived in Carencro...

You could’ve also snuck into the wetlands golf course. Those ponds are loaded. One of my dad’s good friends used to work there and on Tuesday’s they are closed. We went one Tuesday with him, rode around in golf carts pond hopping and fishing. My arm was tired at the end of the day.

I've heard the Wetlands was loaded, but never took the risk of sneaking onto the course. Probably should have so maybe they would have banned me from the course. Would have saved me a lot of money and golf balls.

Could just sneak a fishing pole into your golf bag.

I went to the Pelican Park pond about a year ago and it was disgusting. I don't think anything was living in there. It may have changed since then.

Welcome to the boudin capital. Koa but I think you may have to be camping there or pay a small fee. Poches in bb but pretty sure there’s a small fee to fish too. Not sure of anything near the airport except beaver park which I wouldn’t waste my time on. Some home owners with ponds will let you fish them if you get to know them. Wetlands or UL pond in a ghillie suit.

What do you mean by "disgusting"? Like there was trash and shite floating in the water? I've never personally visited the ponds there, but I played softball there for almost a decade, and the facility seemed fairly clean. When I lived in Carencro, my neighbors son would catch bass in the canal near our house, and go release them at pelican park because it was only a mile or so away. But that was quite a while ago, and I haven't been to Pelican park in more than two or three years if I had to guess.

Water smelled horrible. Tons of trash in the pond. Dead gar carcasses. If gar can’t survive there’s a problem.

There's a pond at Moore Park off University, just north of I 10. I never fished it nor seen anyone pull anything out while passing, but for free it cant hurt to try.

Eta for pic.
