Those of you saying that O is here for 3 more years after this one, with no qualifying argument are smoking crack. He has a losing season next year, he may make it to 2022. Three losing seasons in a row will get him canned, not just here, but pretty much anywhere in the SEC.

Naw! L S U will recover from this and find a comfortable niche in the middle of SEC West. Bama will reassert its dominance of the SEC.

....insert yawn and audible sigh.

You are right. The man just won a national championship and built arguably the best college football team ever.

so at the end of 2021 if it is another subpar performance 3-4 wins, he will be on the hottest of hot seats. Woodward knows the cost of not doing something is greater than the cost of keeping him with empty seats.

Coach O has LSU by the nuts right now. He has a crazy buyout for the next 4 years. Scott Woodward is showing you all that he is riding the high of what he did at Washington. Look at aTm and the contracts they are stuck with. They have Jimbo for 7 more years guaranteed. Buzz Williams 6 year 3.8 million with a 100k increase each year. What has aTm basketball done since his arrival other than suck (16-14) $237,00 per win last season?

6-6, 7-5 are realistic predictions. That will not get him fired nor should it but would start him with a hot seat in '22.

Dude if he goes 2-8 or 3-7 and follows it up with 6-6 he's fricking gone.

We cannot accept that. Period.

What about next season though? What if we do just as bad and only win 2-4 games? What kind of record does O need to have in 2021 to remain safe?

First it depends on what the season looks like next year. Is LSU playing 12 games or the 10 game (extended) SEC only schedule? 2-4 wins vs. a 12 game schedule (with cupcakes included) looks FAR worse than, say, 4 wins vs an SEC-only schedule.

That aside, Ed cashed in at the EXACT right time and the crushing loss of revenue that this ridiculous "pandemic" overreaction has caused and will continue to cause would make it extremely hard to fire O as early as next season. We already know the pandemic restrictions are going to bleed into next year (see college basketball) and if I'm being honest, it hard to imagine we'll go from 20% seating limitations in Jan, Feb... (See the Super Bowl restrictions as an example) back up to 100k in Sept. Unfortunately, we are going to be dealing with the fallout of this stupidity for some time to come.

Assuming a second year of massive revenue loss I just don't see how LSU (or any school) will be fiscally able to make a big change. Firing O after next season would mean not only having to allocate funds to pay him and his staff big money in buyouts, but also having enough capital to lure another HC to come to LSU. I can't imagine everyone wanting to fire O would be willing to accept a "cheap" replacement.

IMO, Orgeron has, at minimum, two more seasons after this one at LSU. No AD could have predicted the "pandemic". But LSU is in a worse position because the AD unnecessarily spent money like a gold digging whore. Realistically, LSU is paying just Bo and O at least a combined 4 million dollars more per year than they should be.

DiNardo got canned after two losing seasons. Of course, two different scenarios. Our program was nowhere near where it is now and DiNardo didn't lead us to a 15-0 national title.

Hugh Freeze would be a great hire but he will be somewhere else if/when LSU makes a change.

O took the big bucks so high expectations are to be expected. For what he is being paid, he should have to win at least 10 games in 2021. I don't see that happening.

I wish this were true but he’s here until at least 2024 there is absolutely no way we have that kind of money.

He could lose every game this year and next year and I still don’t see a way out.

If we have another losing season next year they’ll cut him loose. 21 mil is a big chunk of money but when you consider the loss of future revenue and donations if the program tanks I bet they figure out how to make it work. With all that said I fully expect O to replace pelini at the end of the year and us to be right back in the hunt next year.

Like the many on here, you have no clue what you're talking about.

The LSU "Powers that Be" have deeper pockets and influence than is generally believed.

They aren't going to just sit idly by and let this thing devolve into a bottomless pit that is impossible to escape from.

A move will be made if and when it gets to that point where it's painfully obvious that a change is absolutely necessary.

We are all watching a HC that can't operate without elite Coordinators in place; and he seems to have trouble hiring elite Coordinators. That's an eventual death knell for a program.

"Powers that Be" aren't that patient anymore either!
