The blades are sharp, but coarse and the cordless knife doesn't reciprocate as fast as the corded version so I can shred some meat on smaller trout as it gets close to the tail. As long as I am fileting fish that are still cold (and the meat firm), I don't have that problem. I find those teeth can be a little too aggressive for smaller trout and can grab the skin when trying to separate the meat from the skin unless I leave a little bit of meat left on the skin. Works awesome on bass, sacalait, and reds that aren't too big.

I didn’t realize the cordless ones did that. I have the corded.
