Most concerts that I saw were either in New Orleans at the Warehouse

Late 70's, I saw Journey at the Warehouse. It was an awesome venue, but HOT. It was the first time in my life that I had to pay for water. I was so fricking hot, I bought two at a time. Sitting up on the rafters above the floor, about 10 rows from the stage - best seats in the house!

Since everyone keeps talking about shows from the 70's and 80's up in here...check this out:

Lots of bootlegs from BR

The Zeppelin soundboard from the PMAC is pretty solid!

What was the radio show where they'd pretend to interview opposing teams and play song sound bites for answers before the lsu games?

Randy Rice and Gym Nasium (Danny Seymour) on WFMF 102.5. Tiger Tracks or something like that. Early 80"s though.

Legend had it that there was a house across the river (along hwy 415) where a young college man could enjoy female companionship at reasonable mid-1970s prices.

There was one of those in Athens Ga all during the 60s up until the late 70s. It was called Effies. Effie was absolutely the most powerful woman in town (maybe the most powerful person). It's been told that the Athens police and Effie had an agreement that they would raid her 2 times a year, and let her know in advance when they were coming. She'd pay a fine (it was her way of paying taxes) and they would leave her alone otherwise. This how big of a pillar of the community she was; she sponsored a little baseball team, and they won the Athens little league title every year because all the kids wanted to fly for her. I remember the UGA KAs in 1973 posed for their yearbook photo standing out in front of Effies in tuxes with their pants draped over their left forearm, wearing boxer shorts, and holding a 20 dollar bill in their upraised right hand. I've always wondered if they paid Effie to let them do that, or did Effie pay the KAs for the pub.

Revisiting this thread. Sorry if what I say is out of context. (siwisiooc).

On Sundays, one could not purchase alcohol. Bars were closed and the only legal way to get alcohol (beer and only beer) was at a grocery after 12:00 pm. Liquor stores were closed. No bars were open. As far I know, on Sunday, there were two places you could sit down, have a meal, and drink beer: the Pizza Hut (don’t know what’s there now) on Nicholson just north of LSU and “Ruby’s” which is now “George’s” under I 10 on Perkins. The escape clause had something to do with the percentage of food served relative to drink. There may have been a couple other places, but I don’t think so. Back then there was a large contingent of people who consumed Boone’s Farm Wine which was unavailable for purchase (as was all wine) on Sunday. Thanks to a wonderful family owned grocery (either Italian or African American) on Washington Street, the law was ignored and you could purchase that swill on Sundays.

I believe the Messengers moved to Pigeon Forge TN. Think some family members still do the Denham show.

Bought my green and bright yellow Adidas warm up suit in Cortana right after it opened. They didn't have that color combination with the top and bottom anywhere in Monroe or Shreveport. My GF had given me the yellow tee and told me ADIDAS stood for, "All Day I Dream About Sex"

It got stolen out of my locker from our practice locker room. I saw a lady wearing it a week later.

My dad played in a fast-pitch softball league at Forest Park when I was a kid in the mid-70s. My uncle started playing around ‘79. Good times.

Killer concerts every week with HOF bands at Independence Hall, LSU Assembly Center and Riverside Centroplex. Smoke em if ya got em cause nobody cared.

I remember going to the Assembly Center for a like midweek concert-Foghat, Foreigner, Styx, Blue Oyster Cult, Rush, Uriah Heep, Gary Weaver, REO Speedwagon, Journey - one of those or any of another 20-30 bands that played there and then the next night going to watch an LSU basketball game there with my father.

I remember him saying “Jesus Christ son- this place smells like a god damn ashtray from all you god damn pot heads at that rock and roll thing last night”

He was funny as shite.

It was a glorious time. Wiseguys were all over the place. It was before Apalachin and before Crazy Joey decided to take on a boss and start a war. It was when I met the world. It was when I first met Jimmy Burke.

I spent lots of time in KS in the early 80s. Where exactly was The Spot?
