What are some good trees to plant to get some good yellows and reds each fall? I understand there are a lot of factors, I guess I am looking for the trees with most consistent growth and color.

I’ll be planting them in Livingston Parish.

Thanks!

Good suggestions so far.

I would add Shumard Oak.

Look at various maples make sure you get the correct size for your area and some are more consistent yellow or orange . Yellow Birch and river birch are great yellows. Gingkos are pretty yellows but be careful about the sex of the tree to avoid the fruit mess. Scarlet oaks are amazing reds. Also shrubs can be beautiful for fall color like oak leaf hydrangeas or witch hazel.

Chinese tallows are the scourge of the earth, but they have nice fall foliage.

Japanese maples here mostly have good colors.
And so do this board's most hated tree: the Bradford pear.
