This is not a raving review to me

It’s only like that in the slow speed. I’m also a much more laid back player with these kinds of games. I’m not trying to max anything or make anything perfect just frickin round.

You can go full bore into if that’s how you play

I've played a bit but sandbox mode is fricked. Every day-period it pretends you just finished the game and goes to the cut screen and statistics. After 3 or 4 times it bugs up and you've got to restart the game.

I'm just about done until they fix that.

Played about 4 hours yesterday, messed around with the different speed settings and this game is stupid addicting.

Upgrading your houses to have multiple families helps a lot.

This game has sucked me in big time.

Hopefully. I can see where this game loses steam in it's current form. I don't need a game sucking me in for too long. I just kicked my Satisfactory habit.

I really like it. It's pretty soothing and beautiful graphics. Definitely echo that it is a very slow game right now. Rewards you for patience and not going hyper-growth. You will run out of food fast if you're not careful

Put in a few hours over the last few days and think it's a great start. A few things that took me like 4 unsuccessful playthroughs to realize (albeit anecdotally):

1) the backyard industry (exists - which I didn't realize at first ) is pretty important. I read somewhere that your burgage plots should be about the size of the logging camp. I tried that and it seems about right. If you use that size, you only have to build 3 burgage plots to house your initial settlers. You just have to add the second house "upgrade"

2) get some planks ASAP and upgrade your hitching post to get a 2nd ox. Makes building and timber hauling (also build this first or you will get yourself stuck with nothing else to build) much easier. I also get to about 40-50 planks and then re-assign that worker to other tasks

3) farming is for later in the game. I was so worried about food I kept building farms but they're actually pretty inefficient for feeding your people initially.

4) upgrade your burgages to level 2 when you can - this starts to generate "passive" regional wealth which can be used for trading

5) the trading post is more beneficial than I thought at first. Although, they did a patch and made this much more expensive. Pick a few items that you have a decent amount of and won't use (tools, is a good one) and trade most of them away. This opens up options to trade in additional resources that are tougher to get.

6) I also didn't notice that collecting herbs was an upgrade on the gathering hut (which I should have since that's a Banished mechanism) but don't forget to do that or your people will get sick.

You should 100% spend your starting money on 2 veggie plots (make them long and narrow with a burgage that supports 2 families, not just 1) and an extra hitching post/ox.

THE EXTRA OX AT THE START IS A NON-NEGOTIABLE. It will make things run soooooo much smoother on the front end.

You waiting too long, baw! You should have the 2nd ox before you even place down any houses.

And 40-50 planks? shite baw. I never have more than 10 saved. Have a burgage set on making the wooden gear to trade.

I stopped farming all together. Deep mine on iron + tool manufacturing trade and buy all the grain I need to make bread and sell the extra bread for profit.

It is flat out broken. The patch yesterday tried to address it, but it looks to still be the way to go.

Agreed. Extra ox make all the difference in scaling the city in early game. You have enough village wealth to get extra right off the bat.

But the farms are so aesthetically pleasing I started a new game last night and went heavy on farming because the zone I started in had real good soil. Once you get a few more ox and plows it provides a lot of food. I still import barley because yield on barley sucks. Rye is where it's at once you get that upgrade.

Have y'all had big fires yet? Half my town burned down the other night before I even knew what happened. It hit at a bad time right after I'd gone through a major growth phase and I was low on supplies right before winter. I did not have any trade set up to back-fill supplies. I really haven't dived too deep into trade or combat. I guess I need to learn those parts of the game.

Restarting until i have the super hunting (forget what its called, but has the crown), was the only way i could keep food on the tables long enough to hold off pillaging

My post was honestly very out of order. I re-read it and it's not my finest work.

I actually leave them homeless for a long time. And I go until 40-50 planks and then basically don't turn the sawpit back on again until way way later.

Yeah, I don't farm unless I am able to get some really good fertility and I use it when I finally build the burgage bakery upgrade

"Rich deposit"

I find that the berry rich deposit is the most beneficial for food. Especially if you unlock the double berry production. That way you can get like 250 berries per year.

Having a rich iron or clay deposit is amazing once you get deep mines, because then you basically have unlimited trading to bring in food. Though the trading system is pretty bad right now.
