Played a month ago at Mallard, Nugget and Contraband.

Mallard is a good value, but most of the greens were in rough shape. The starter said they are still battling back from the winter storm. I'd love to go back and play it again when the greens are all the way back.

The nugget is way overpriced in my opinion. It was in good shape, but a couple of greens had issues, specifically #7. Unless you have comps, I'd stay away.

Contraband was in great shape. There was a women's tournament there that weekend on Friday and Saturday and we played it on Sunday.

National Golf Club in Westlake is a forgotten course. If it’s in good shape that could be an option. The layout is really nice.

Last I had heard, the National was looking good.

The Nugget is in pretty good shape. Greens are all healed from winter kill. we did a deep tine aerification followed by DryJect last week and its all healed up and greens are in great shape. Next planned aerification will be a core aerification June 5/6. not sure what size holes I will punch yet, waiting to see what the weather pattern is. will be either 3/8" or 1/2" cores.

I'm planning to come over to play at the Nugget next week. I keep getting comps to play, so I should use them...

Right now, Westlake and contraband are the best conditioned for the value.

Mallards rough right now.

Nug way over priced.

Kosati is worth the drive

Are yall still planning on punching the course at the Golden Nugget this week? I didn't get to go yet as I had my first ever experience with gout & that sat me down for a few days.

I booked a room for tomorrow (Monday), but haven't called for Tuesday tee time yet.

weather permitting i am punching greens on Monday, and finishing up on tuesday. we are normally closed on Tuesday. L'Auberge punched last week, but seem to be rolling well. GN will reopen Wednesday

I misread my offer to play there about being closed on Tuesday.

Appreciate your quick answer! I'll then come next week as I wouldn't think the golf comp from the Nugget would work at L'Auberge. I also have table, food, & hotel credits at the Nugget that I don't think I have at L'Auberge.

I'm going to be in Orange the last week in June visiting the in-laws.

I will probably play the Orange CC and a course in Lake Charles as a single.

So the National looks to be the best right now ?

My swing coach at Golftec in First Colony said that National was in good shape last weekend.

By the way, I played Greatwood 2 weeks ago and now using senior tees. First hole tee box was so hard that I couldn't get a tee in the ground. After that, it was OK. I played really well until 18 when my cart quit. Took them 30 minutes to come and get me lol... it was a lot better than 5 weeks ago, so I'll go back.

The rains have helped Greatwood. Got an inch last night.

The City who owns the water rights dislikes the Lopez group and visa versa.

Isn't there a pseudo Donald Ross course in Orange?

Yep.

The Stark family commissioned Ross to design it.

Good restaurant on the property now called Tia Juanita's Fish Camp, lots of fun and decent food.
