I have property in Baton Rouge and live 3 hrs away. When I need routine service or any service I ask in advance ( sometimes weeks to months ) to be first thing in morning so I can take off of work and be home at a reasonable hr. This never happens, always show up after lunch. Appreciate any recommendations

its not easy because it depends on the guy who shows up

its like recommending a restaurant, it depends on who the chef is that day if the food is any good.

same with a/c companies. i have known and worked for companies who have guys there that i wouldnt let work on my lawnmower, then there were some i trusted completely.

thats why you should never be afraid, or reluctant, to request they only send the guy you know and trust.

I’m in Ascension and just used Thermal Solutions on Friday. My AC went out while on vacation and I called them while my arse was in the sands of Pensacola Beach. They came out that same day, sent the mother in law to open the house for the guy, and $749 later, my house was cool again. This was after I paid another local guy over $700 to “fix” the problem - twice - the week before. Thermal’s rep called me within 45 minutes of arrival and explained with confidence what the problem was. Told me the price, gave him my credit card, and it was fixed within two hours. All while I was staring at females in bikinis on the beach at Portifino’s Pensacola resort.

I can’t recommend them enough.

Out of curiosity, what was the problem? I had 4 1/2 lbs. of freon put in today and it was $359. The guy told me my evaporator had a leak at the U bends (think that was the term he used), but he stated there is no way to predict how long it'll go before I need a recharge.

He told me for him to install a new evaporator coil and charge it with freon would be $1000. Kinda wished he would've told me that on the front end as I would've just opted to do that.

I think he was just trying to get us back up and running.

The blower in the attic unit was broken.

That would have been the the better deal, and that’s a very good price, as 4 1/2 lbs indicates a pretty significant leak, but it may get you through the summer.

And you are correct, he was probably trying to get you some cool air - those guys are incredibly busy now, so they often “gas and go” with the intent to come back at a slower time and change out the leaking evaporator coil.

I use Derric's. Incredibly fair and good at what they do. Just bought a new house in May.... AC went out the 2nd week of June. Called them at 4:30. Derric came out and stayed until 8pm to get it running. I've been a customer for 10 years.

I’ve been happy with Rebel. Had to have a unit replaced (inside and outside units) and their price was much better than the other quotes I got and they didn’t try to upsell me into something my house wasn’t built for.

I use Zach’s heating and air out of brusly. Really good, small, locally owned company.

Sometimes one thing breaks then it’s repaired then another thing breaks - but yeah I get it
