I applaud these worthy diversions from the Kiel thread nonsense.

Never heard of him. Does he play basketball?

Would not be surprised to see him end up as a 5* on both sites after the next update, he's having a great year.

Great for him if he does, but he better learn how to make free throws, and find a 12-15 ft jump shot.

Gathers is a great player and definitely deserves attention. But, from what I am hearing, Louis Dabney was by far the best player on that team prior to being hurt.

Louis Dabney is on par with John Issac, if not better.
Not sure why he isn't recruited more heavily.

Signed with Tulane already. Torn ACL, out for the year.
Along with several other in-state guards, I think it came down to them or Malik Morgan. LSU apparently liked Morgan better.

What are LSU's chances at landing Gathers?

I believe he wants to go to LSU and has wanted to all along. I believe he likes Trent Johnson and Brent Scott a lot, but was concerned they would not get things turned around and would get fired.
Thus, he committed to St. Johns. When he decommitted and decided to wait until the spring, it gave LSU an opportunity. If LSU can have a good season, prove that they are legit and Trent Johnson gets a vote of confidance from the LSU administration, I think he will come to LSU.
Just my opinion.

Don't you think Duke has to be the leader now that they are in the equation? Every basketball player wants to go to Duke/UNC/Kentucky/Kansas.
Posted on 12/28/11 at 3:20 pm to GeorgeTheGreek
I just read something on the Duke Rivals site today that said they are still waiting on Tony Parker and they prefer him over Gathers. I'm not certain about the legitimacy of his offer, or if it is committable. Not saying it isn't, but they will only take one of those player, and they are waiting on Parker. Kind of wierd.

No he doesn't, he's a dominate player against any team in the US. Free throws would just make him
skip college.

With JOB, Hamilton, Turner, Isaac, Stringer, Hickey, Morgan and Gathers.... LSU would be very very good next year. Deep as well.
Trent's plan of recruiting 4 year players would start to pay dividends.
Also, Bubba ... Any big time JUCO guys being looked at by the tigers?

Orlando Sanchez, but I think he's a Gathers back-up plan.
