Very impressive.........please tell me that is affecting the poor Defense we are seeing. I want to believe there is an excuse, because starters or 2nd team, they are not making plays. Hopefully Aranda adjusts to compliment this explosive offense.

It didn’t affect the defense last night since they played a lot better in the second half when the offense scored 41 points.

Yep that will affect any defense.

The way I see it, LSU’s problems on D are twofold.

1. We are horrendous at zone coverage. It’s a pretty common problem at the college level. Most guys have played man or at least a 2 or 3 man under all through high school and it’s an adjustment. I think Aranda wants to use the zone to combat the quick hitting passes that have been moving the ball on us but it’s not working. LB’s can’t get out to their zones and effectively defend and our corners are clearly more comfortable in man. Going forward I imagine we’ll play more man or combo coverage and leave the full zone look.

And 2. We have to play more guys on the DL. Leaving the same 3 guys out there all the time isn’t the answer. We basically get no pass rush at all after 3 plays. We have to find guys who can sub regularly and give those guys a break.

The defense wasn't gassed to start the game, and North-fricking-western move the ball with regularity.

The offense hung 41 points on the board in the second. According to people like you, their tongues should have been dragging the ground. They were not. They pitched a shutout.

You can have great offense and great defense. Spurrier put it together for Florida back in the day. His offenses scored a lot and did so in the blink of an eye. His defenses were badass, too.
