Uh, we already do. There’s a banner in the PMAC
All the more reason we should claim 1908.
All the more reason we should claim 1908.

Here is how the LSU Gumbo summerized the "champion game" of the 1934-1935 season:
quote:
The Tiger quintet moved to the top
of the National basketball list by conquering the strong University of Pittsburg Five in the Auditorium at Atlantic City, 41-37, on the night of April
13, before 6,000 spectators. Sports
writers and officials throughout the East
paid tribute to the Tigers, and the University gained widespread publicity as a
result of the basketball team’s trip to
the great seaside resort.
Pitt went after the Tigers right at
the start, and gained a 18-4 lead before
the Tigers could hit their stride. The
Panthers maintained a 26-17 lead at the
half, and it seemed that the Bengal
quintet would be turned back by the
powerful Pitt team which outweighed
them by a margin of nearly thirty
pounds per man. L. S. U .’s second half
rally, with Buddy Blair setting the pace,
proved so sensational that the spectatorsrose to their feet to cheer the valiant
performance of the Tigers. At the close
of the contest L. S. U . was out in front
and won going away as the game ended.
The outcome of this game provided
a fitting climax for the inter-collegiate
careers of the veteran Tiger cagers who
had been playing together for three full
Varsity seasons. The starting group
was composed of Wade, Journeay, Lindsey, Blair, and Harris; with a reserve
team made up of Miller, Bryan, Boehannan, Leathers, and Wells

I had a poster in my room circa 1989 that claimed it, it's not debatable.

Titles are AWARDED, not "claimed". Why is this so fricking hard for so fricking many people to understand?
Did any reputable organization actually award LSU with a championship trophy?
If so, yes.
If not, no.
The debate should only come in when discussing 'reputability' of the awarding organization.

They really have claimed quite a few. I think they did claim 1908 for football though. They just keep adding years to that total number banner. It’s a wonder that one isn’t 20 feet long by now to keep all those years on it. It’s fulled up baw!!!!!
