As an LSU fan living in Alabama, it isn't always easy but a recent gathering with some Alabama friends I got to experience a first...and maybe a last. To my surprise, they all wished they had our QB! In fact, they said they would win the NC if Daniels was their QB! To say I was shocked would be an understatement!

I couldn't stop laughing because even when we had Burrow, they trashed him because they had Tua and Bryce. It's just funny how quickly fans will turn on their team when the going gets tough. I reminded them that they were still 3-1, but they quickly stated that no SEC team has ever won the SEC or a NC with a running back playing QB! Things are so bad, they even said they're afraid they might even lose to Jimbo and the Aggies!

Needless to say, it was an enjoyable gathering and one I won't soon forget.

Before Saban arrived, most Bama fans you see around were Florida fans. When Saban retires, they'll move on to being Georgia fans.

Those folks are a lot more fair-weather than many realize.

Had the same conversation with some auburn buddies. When you see the perspective of an auburn fan, we essentially have Warren moon compared to their situation.

That happened just 2 years ago when they had the #1 pick as their QB.

I hate to say it but alabama has always been the top football program in the SEC. They have won NC's in most decades going back to the 1920s. Nick Saban, who I believe is the greatest HC in CFball history, did not make alabama. And bama does not stay down long between SEC and national titles.

When NS leaves/retires, I expect bama will remain a title contender as they have always been.

Saban - 7 NCs
Bryant - 6 NCs

Apart from those 2 coaches, they won 2 in the mid 20s and 1 in 1930.

They are the beneficiaries of having 2 of the greatest coaches of all time.

And if any other school had those guys, that university would have similar numbers.

When Saban leaves, I expect Bama to fall flat on their face. Who wants a job after the GOAT leaves? You'd be walking into a situation with unrealistic and unattainable standards.

Check the roster for # of HS all Americans
Check the HC
Check the campus and facilities

The dynasty might be fading...but if think Alabama isn't top tier then I'd hate to see criteria to be qualified

Maybe in the wider universe, but not in Alabama where the OP said he lives.

If they had Daniels and their current receivers, they still wouldn't be that much better. Nabers and Thomas make JD look a lot better.

The point is, it’s because of saban. They won one with stallings in 92. Then didn’t do jack shite until saban got there.

Bama would take either one of our QB's right now.

Bama fans don’t know that Blake Sims won the SEC?

I did not say they weren’t top tier. Don’t change the conversation (People do that shite all the time on here.)

There’s a difference tween being top tier and ALAYS THE top program in the SEC. You remember the Spurrier years?

You put Daniels down, but name another team in the SEC that has a better performing QB. We're lucky to have Daniels because life without him would not be nearly as successful. Not many QBs in the country can throw and run at the level that Daniels does. Ask every HC in the SEC, which the exception of maybe Georgia, and they would all take Daniels over their current QB.
