How far away is LSU from becoming Georgia?

I think most everyone will agree that Georgia is the top team in college football right now. How long do you think we are away from competing/beating them consistently and how long before we are seen as one of the top two or three programs yearly?

The way things are going now, I feel like we are at least two years away from even being mentioned in the same conversation. I say this because we simply don't have the elite starting talent across the board and we don't have talent depth needed to be considered a NC contender every year!

What are your thoughts?

I'd rather LSU become Nick Saban era Alabama.

Next year and beyond. We have a shot at winning a NC this year, nobody seems unbeatable.

But it will be a struggle, especially facing UGA in the SEC Championship should we make it. Can we beat em? Sure. But, as you said, we lack depth.

One more recruiting class/transfers and I think we are there

One of us has won 4 national championships this century, the other 2.

Shouldn't the question be how far is Georgia away from becoming LSU?

Played for 4. Only won 3 (2003, 2007, and 2019).

But still, point well taken.

remember that as great as UGA was last year, they still needed OSU to miss a FG to be able to even make the championship game.

It always takes some luck.

3 and the years between count. We are an average 10-3 program the past 20 years even with those 3 and the near misses. I'd say we still have some catching up to do to be mentioned in that breath no matter how unfair it seems. We've never been a program spoken about in that manner. Our current recruiting efforts aren't doing much to instill confidence that it's imminently approaching.

1st year and LSU w Kelly at the helm was not eliminated from National championship consideration until final game of regular season.

This season they have the opportunity to be the 1st team in history of college football to lose 1st game and win national championship. We coming……..

Kelly is building us differently. Like it or not, he’s getting fewer top recruits and more program type guys. I don’t think we’ll ever be a dominant team from a pure roster talent perspective like UGA two years ago and even moreso LSU in 2019, but we have a very high floor and will make title noise every few years.

We gotta get rid of bk first. He can drive off into the sunset in his Tesla tomorrow as far as I'm concerned.

And this right here is the biggest key to the entire thing.

It’s probably measured in dollars not time.

That will never happen again with NIL. Lots more talent spread around.
