I don’t understand Jay’s decision-making

You have a much better defensive catcher in Milazzo and Jay just doesn’t use him. If Neal gives you so much offensive firepower, sure, I can roll with it, but that’s just not the case. Seeing Neal let a simple breaking pitch get past him and then gave a wild throw to 3B to give UT a free run, and then gave ZERO production in offense, just puzzles me about Jay’s decision making.
Similarly, Pearson/Kling couldn’t hit jack sh*t and Jay still left them in the lineup. Kling at least has defense to offer but all Pearson did at 2B was to f*ck up a routine DP.
Lastly, if you know Braswel is struggling on D and gonna keep a very short leash on him anyway, you might as well not start him and take your chance at Milam or Nippolt. That way at least you had a solid D.
I know our lineup hasn’t been hitting the ball well this game, but Jay should take his fair share of blames in some of his decision making, which has led to so many defensive miscues at critical moments.

SS: Milam
2B: Nippolt
CF: Brown
RF: Larson
C: Milazzo

You want to start building fur next year on one hand but you want to start Milazzo over Neal on the other. Make that make sense
Nippolt is also a senior.

He's hoping Neal just needs abs that he missed due to injury last year to unlock his potential. Like when he hit two Homer's against Texas. I think it was texas anyway.

The guy that saved the season last year probably shouldn’t be forced to play a position he’s never played before and then blamed for not making a play. Maybe he could play the position in which he saved the National Championship.

Neal isn’t your guy at catcher next year either. Jay needs to hit transfer portal to get his catcher next year, but if he doesn’t want to throw this season completely away, he needs to start Milazzo.

I would play braswell at second ,Pearson in left ,larson in right,and Binghamton in center . Then I would make late game substitutions if we're up that would consist of milazzo in at catcher and kling in for Pearson late and then move Binghamton over when kling comes in to play center

You are missing the point. Playing your best veteran guy at key positions and gives your more promising young players playing time. I’m not sure who’s that “next year player” at 2B and Catcher yet, that’s why we need to ride the veteran guys there.

it's definitely possible Johnson rode the backs of two generational players and a multitude of high end SEC players to a title last year and that he's not actually a hyper talented coach.
Milazzo being on the team with Neal healthy and Travinski back, his obsession with Pearson and taking Braswell out of the portal are all weird decisions to me.
He also took guys like Jump and Loer out of the portal when Chase Burns was sitting there. If he's hyper-competitive and wants to win more than anything you get the best guys.

Pearson has been disappointing after his freshman year. He looked like a future core guy at the end of that season

Milam has shown lots of potential at offense/defense and he’s also a true freshman. This is Neal’s second year and he has yet to figure out either defense or offense.

Jump was a good take. If you took the glove of brasswell at usc and paired it with his bat this year then you would have a really good player. Jump was a big get for us at the time and he' hasn't been that bad. Loer hasn't been good. I think we did target burns though.
Jay took Arizona to the cws a couple of times so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. I believe he's actually too smart for his own good sometimes. I think he overthinks things

Literally saved the season in the National Championship. Then hit a bomb in the finale. Playing out of position and here and there due to Jay’s incessant infatuation with righty/lefty matchups is his fault?

my point here was we took a lot of guys with talent and potential instead of skins on the wall. either that or we didn't get them immediately following a natty. neither is good or acceptable.

Playing Pearson left and right and out of his position is Jay’s fault, which further proves my point that Jay’s decision making has been questionable.
And yes, not hitting jack-sh*t is Pearson’s fault. We all thought he’s gonna be the next core guy stepping up on offense but he didn’t.
