I disagree with the article. JJ's passing has some work to do.

That said, we should be very happy to have him. He will definately contribute, if nothign else in the running game.

I really hope his passing gets better because he can throw the deep ball well. It would be nice to see pull up and throw out of the option.

stupid article IMO. Just b/c a QB is a bit more talented coming out of high school doesn't mean he shouldn't have to compete for the spot. We don't know if he's going to be better than Lee in the long run. The only way to figure that out is to let them compete and battle for the starting job.

From what I have heard on this board and others, Jefferson is not ready. Lee and Hatch may not be superstars, but they should be less likely to make freshman mistakes. This is a team that would be ranked in the top 3 in the country if we had a good QB. I wouldn't waste this talent trying to get Jefferson ready for the future. Indeed, with the likely losses on both sides of the ball to graduation and early entry, 2008 might be our best shot at a MNC for the next 2 or 3 years.

Jefferson played aweful in saturday's scrimmage. He is NOT ready to play QB right now.

This guy has obviously never seen Jefferson's mechanics. The absolute worst thing that could happen for the kid is to be thrown into the fire early and ruin any confidence he could have. He needs to make up a lot of ground on the practice field with his release point and footwork.

The hardest thing for QB's is going against a defense like LSU everyday in practice. The games will get easier and provide a better evaluation point for the new QB's.

With that said, I think LSU should've started Early Doucet at QB last year over both Flynn and Perriloux - did you see that pass in the Bama game he threw to Flynn.

I like how people want JJ to start, yet most of the info people are getting on him come from the media's extremely limited time at practices. The truth is nobody but the coaches know really what is going on with the qb's...everyone else is just guessing.

+1

Those other posts from people who saw the last scrimmage reported he was throwing interceptions left and right and JL was on the money with nearly every toss. Sounds like a pretty clear winner to me (at least in that particular scrimmage). JJ will be a juggernaut next year, we'll get him some reps/PT/experience this year. After all, you never know if injuries, etc., will get him in the game sooner than expected. We may not win the NC or the SECC, but LSU will play some amazing football this year. Kickoff can't get here soon enough.

comments like these are retarded.

I completely disagree with the article and think that JJ will start the year as the 3rd string QB unless someone else is hurt. But, I think it is more moronic to say that there is no way he should start or could have success than to say that he should start.

Afterall, he has just as much game experience as Lee and 4 plays less than Hatch. It's ignorant to act like there is no way in heck he could be a starter and/or perform better than Lee and Hatch this year.

Will that happen? Doubtful. But, to act like it is a given and any other outcome is impossible is stupid.

Jordan is an unpolished product right now. In a couple years when his mechanics get better and he gains some touch he'll be one of the best qb's in the conference maybe the country imo. Plus he needs to fill out his frame.

While he makes a good point, and equally compelling arguement can be made for all three QB's this year. I do agree that this is the most critical personel decision Les has had to make as HC and could go a long way in defining the longterm future and success of LSU football. Just one more thing to LOVE about college football, the built in turnover ratio brings similar situations up every year and gives each season and team it's own unique challenges to overcome. Every year you get to watch the teams evolve as certain players step up while others will fade. Following recruiting makes this all the more interesting b/c you start rooting for players and guessing who will be the "next in line". I'm confident Les and staff will make the right decision, 2008 will be interesting to say the least. OH, by the way only 11 Freakin dayz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :dude:

If he had JR's mechanics, he would be so good. JR was so smooth with his delivery. Than again, i think we are kidding ourselves if we think he has Jr's armstrength.

He's such a perfectly constructed QB specimen for our offense. I'm just worried that his errant passing and poor mechanics will potentially leave him being the next Lester Ricard. RS will come in ready to go.

he may not appear to be ready to you. but, is it more foolish to say definitively that he is not ready at all, shouldn't start, and couldn't be successful this year; or to say that he could be our starting qb?

I think it is apparantly obvious to nearly everyone, that it is very difficult to start as a true freshman in the SEC. But, to act like it is impossible is retarded.

Heck, half of the people on here think that R. Sheppard's gonna come in and take the job away from all 3 of these guys next year after they all have game experience. I disagree with those people, just saying what people think.

J. Lee will be our starter for a long time. I don't see him losing out to any of the rest right now, unless he gets hurt.

Yeah, we should start a QB who doesn't know the playbook and needs some more work in the weight-room as well as working on his delivery...
