What do "normal" Aggie fans think about the midnight chant?

I admittedly did not know much about the tradition. I had always just assumed they got together at 12am the night before and just yelled really loud for a like 20 seconds and then left, that is until I saw that video.
I am absolutely shell shocked and cannot believe that is real. It's almost not even funny to make fun of. I am downright scared to go near that campus for an away game because I will probably get kidnapped and put in one of those religious cults until I turn a certain age, at which point I will have already been converted. One of those, except for Texas A&M sports.
My confusion lies with the audience in attendance. This is not some niche group of fans. This is an array of 30,000+ college-aged students, full grown adults with their children, 70-80 year old men and women. There were also "yell leaders" and one of them started telling a story about how some strong, muscular Appalachian men walked into a bar wearing "hanky panky." I have no idea what this means - but the crowd found it absolutely hysterical. Then, they started straight up making fun of how poor Appalachian state is - was extremely off key and bizarre. I mean this is not some random dude on TexAgs making fun of App St, this is like a school sponsored even on campus. Also why are they talking about 3rd graders? At some point the authorities need to get involved.
All of this being said, what about the "normal" A&M fans? You know, the people you that you might work with, people who did normal SEC school things, like join fraternities, and drink on Friday nights instead of going to some weird "chant" on campus. What do they think about this? Do they embrace it? Or is there sort of two fan bases within one?
I'm honestly incredibly disturbed at the moment that this exists. When they play Bama this year, I will actually be the biggest Bama fan on planet earth. I don't give a shite. Someone please help me - I am not sleeping tonight with this on my mind. I'm literally freaking out

that is a trick question - the correct answer is "there are no normal Aggies "

If you’re a fan of Aggy there is nothing normal about you. They all think the yell practice, yell leaders and the rest of their very strange traditions are just the best things ever. FFS they have sacred grass that they’ll fight you over if you walk on it.

At some point the authorities need to get involved. and this is what's wrong in America. You think some words matter it's a joke. But oh noes let's call the police. a world full of Karen's. Do you need to speak to the manager?

They started talking about gay men and then brought up 3rd graders. Bunch of weirdos. The authorities absolutely need to get involved.

Your observation of it being 30k people, and the fact that I have double digit aggie buddies swear by all that shite being the greatest program things ever, it is the normal. Go find the videos of them for when its an away lsu game; they rent a block space in the opponent city, and host that weird shite there. The videos of the lsu ones show how they view every other fanbase. Consistent knocks of other people: poor, trashy, illiterate... they deserve any struggles they see this season.
All of their fans have been saying since 2020 to last week, that a natty was en route in the immediate short term. Their arrogant, and genuinely see themselves as better bc their school has oil money. Add in the gay cowboy chants and it's just plain awkward to be apart of

When I was at LSU back in the 80’s I had a buddy who told me they actually go to a camp about a week before school starts to learn how to “yell” and to prepare for their yell pep rallies. It’s all really strange. I’ve hated them ever since!

Normal aggie fans.

Look up fish camp on YouTube

It’s real and it’s on YouTube , I’ll find it

Now more people may understand why it drives me insane when people, even on this board, think pairing LSU with A&M in the same pod after the expansion is a good idea, like there's some sort of rivalry or tradition between us. I hate playing those weird MF's more than anyone else in the country. There is nothing in common between their fan base and ours. For me it's not even fun beating them and the less we have to play them, the better.

You think yell practice video was bad?
This is YouTube during pandemic they did this online
Howdy ….if there’s a group of 3 or more aggies you are supposed to address them with that greeting ..howdy

I know OP sounds over the top, but I have to admit that these videos are pretty disturbing to watch.

My fiancé went to A&M and we live in Fort Worth. Well last year she dragged me to yell practice at the Stockyards before the Arky game, and my exact words after were "I grew up going to mass, and I thought this shite was weird". Probably the strangest part of the whole thing was they don't boo they hiss. I was not expecting that.
