Planes, Trains, & Automobiles

"Why are you holding my hand?"
"Where's your other hand?"
"Between two pillows."
"Those aren't pillows!"

I'm surprised TNT or another station doesn't do 24 hrs like they do with Christmas Story.

Dutch is another good one but you can never find it to stream, rent, or even buy.

John was only like 34 or 35 during the making of that film. Was only 43 when he checked out..

Hughes was an absolute prodigy considering how many top quality films he wrote, directed, produced, shadow-wrote, etc, in such a truncated life and career.

It's no wonder he hated Hollywood. He actually worked for everything he had.

Planed trains and automobiles.

I’ve actually been searching for a copy that takes out the cuss words so I can show my nieces and nephews but have not been able to find a copy anywhere

I'll get shelled for this, but I never found John Candy funny.

I like John Candy but - and I’ll REALLY get shelled for this - I don’t like planes trains and automobiles.

Hmm. Funny I caught it on TV last night and had the thought I didn't appreciate him enough when I was younger. Not so much for being funny, but being likeable and sympathetic.

As to the movie...the thing that struck me was the over-the-top 80s score. It was distracting and really dates this movie. A lot of 80s movies are afflicted by this. I don't quite feel this way about any other decade.

80's synth-pop is so unmistakable. I'm not sure there's another era of movie where I could pick out the decade on the music alone.

Scent of a Woman is my favorite. I watch it every Thanksgiving weekend.

If we're being honest, he wasn't really. Like Robin Williams. Both could be extremely likeable though.

Introduced my son to it today. He thought it was hilarious.

I was wondering if Kevin Bacon chasing the taxi is supposed to be Jake from She's Having A Baby, and realized Steve Martin's wife is watching that movie in one scene. Little Easter egg there, I guess.

Also the old man sleeping on Steve’s shoulder—along with Candy—in the initial plane ride is the old man whose wife had the dangly earrings Mrs. McCallister was trying to score her airline ticket to get home to Kevin. Ed was his character name in Home Alone.

Like PTAA, in Home Alone Candy’s mission was to get her home for the holidays.

Noticed all that watching it last night.
