Adam Driver has me intrigued.

Guy's one hell of an actor.

This is the movie he has wanted to make his whole career.

He had to sell his wineries to fund this and no studios wanted to distribute it.

Been a long journey

Just fyi, Coppola and his wife, Eleanor, will still retain his Inglenook (formerly Rubicon) estate in Napa County and Domaine de Broglie winery in Oregon.

Coppola winery and the others pieces of the sale could net them as much as $1 billion. Crazy money in the wine & spirits business.

quote:

An accident destroys a New York City-like metropolis already in decay. Cesar Catilina, an idealist with the power to control time, aims to rebuild the city as a sustainable utopia, while his opposition, corrupt Mayor Franklyn Cicero, remains committed to a regressive status quo. Coming between the opposing men and their visions is Franklyn's socialite daughter, Julia. Tired of the attention and power she was born with, Julia searches for her life's meaning.

No clue when we will get to see it but it premieres at Cannes on the 17th

If only those corrupt conservatives would get out of the way of liberal utopias...

This will be Coppola's greatest film. It will sweep the Oscars and cement another layer to his legacy.

Idk, 85 year old director who hasn’t done a film in 13 years, and honestly for me hasn’t made a good one since Outsiders 40 years ago. I haven’t seen Rainmaker though. He feels kind of like Ridley Scott to me, best years are behind him but we’ll see. I know this has been a passion project of his for like 50 years

Idealist named Caesar vs a traditionalist named Cicero, fighting over a decaying powerful city. Did he spoil the movie with the names of his characters?

Studios have seen the movie and no one wants it. That tells you all you need to know. He's having to show it at Cannes to hopefully find someone to take International rights for the movie that still havent been sold.

That tells me very little. Studios have made some really dumb decisions. I have serious doubts about the movie but the studio seal of approval is not one.

That's a great teaser that has me wanting more. Well done. It has a Blade Runner meets Christopher Nolan vibe to it.

It’s estimated to be $80-100 million for global marketing. I’ve read several people call it “experimental” so I can see the hesitancy to not throw the money away on a completed film they have watched.
