We owe Carmichael Jr nothing. Soft to not “want” OC gig after 20 years in NFL.

Good riddance, Pete (thread)!

Here’s my take. Pete Jr.’s first job in the NFL was when he was hired by the Cleveland Browns Offensive Coordinator in 2000.

What was the name of the Browns Offensive Coordinator that hired him in 2000? Pete Carmichael Senior aka his Father.

Never earned anything. He’s the nepotism part of the NFL that stinks.

When he finally gets his chance to stand on his own two feet and be the one calling the plays, he stinks.

I only respect those that either earned their way in or were a leader at some point to show he belonged.

Pete Jr. was neither and he deserves nothing from Saints fans.

You do realize that someone can be a very good assistant coach for many years at the position level and be a credit to an organization and be an important part of a championship and just not have the right skill set to be a coordinator (or head coach for that matter)

This is possible. Given what everyone within the organization over this time has said, this is the case here.

PC was an asset to the Saints over his time here. He was a bad offensive coordinator and deserved to be fired from that job. Both are true.

You don't make it 25 years in the NFL without talent. By all accounts, Pete has a brilliant offensive mind, but he is not a play caller. He will do fine as a senior offensive assistant where he can break down film and scheme for a more talented play caller.

He’s a glue guy. You need those around the organization.

It certainly helps when you're an OC under a head coach that does the main OC duties.

You guys might not like the op, but he has a point.
