Why do you think it is that you're aware of a news article about kids in California being hospitalized after eating THC gummies, yet I imagine you haven't personally seen a single article about kids this year in California being hospitalized, or even dying, of alcohol poisoning?

I completely disagree with bill being pushed in OP, but this should be forefront. It happened with Covid and can definitely happen again. No governor or government should ever have that much control over our personal and business lives over a virus or anything else. A governor and mayors being able to shutdown businesses on a whim and as they please is absurd.

Then they should look into reigning in the powers and authority of the governors office; instead of expanding the power of the governors office like they're pushing now.

The state was just following the guidelines put in place by the federal government, which was ran by our man Trump at the time, and it’s not like the governor had to follow the guidelines. If Jeff Landry is going to be the governor, and some Covid like thing has a chance of happening soon, then he probably wouldn’t enforce the guidelines from the feds anyways. So to me, I see this as nothing more than a social conservative political thing, and most everything Jeff Landry has done or even pushed for during his campaign, has been strictly that.

Yep and I completely disagreed with Trump on issuing any shutdown, but it wasn’t enforced at state level nor should it be allowed. The thought of it being legal to shutdown places of worship (whether you are atheist or not should agree with me) restaurants, other small businesses, etc on a whim is still baffling to me. I still can’t get over how so many bowed down and accepted it but that’s not what this thread is about so I’ll back off.
This bill being pushed regarding this thread is also embarrassing

If this passes, would all stores have to immediately remove their products, or is there a grace period to allow them time to adjust (some of these places are locked into leases etc).

While I'm sure a lot of this is driven by social conservatism given the bill's sponsor. A lot of it is culture war BS. Cannabis is seen as "something liberals do." A lot of these "conservatives" see it as more of a lifestyle than a political ideology. Protectionism and banning things they don't like is more important than conservative principles like freedom, choice, and free enterprise.

Minimal amounts of THC was allowed (Delta-8 & Delta-9 products) but now North LA reps want to take out ALL consumable THC products that aren't for medicinal purposes because they think gas stations are going to sell kids gummies indiscriminately.
