My job wants me in my area I cover Texas although I can also choose AZ area if I want and fly to Texas for work

Moving to Texas will mean more driving (especially Austin since it’s right in the middle).

Arizona, my wife would need to find a new job and she likes her current company. We also know no one in the state. I would have to fly to Texas to work but it would position me well for future career oops.

Which would you pick

Well, we just left Texas so they can take our place.

This is confusing as to why AZ is even an option then

It’s a dumb HR rule. My job won’t get done any better by my address being there but it’s part of the deal. I will always be going to the big three cities. I am in medical sales so not much in most of the state.

It’s dumb. I technically can live anywhere west of Texas. Arizona is the home of a main company site so my bosses boss said he could justify that if I wanted to live there.

If I wanted to move on my own dime I could live in Hawaii. It’s stupid but it’s the hand I am dealt.

Further context is that I am a specialist which means I don’t knock on doors. I fly in for specific meetings. So proximity doesn’t really matter.

Stay in Texas. Looking for a job sucks and if your wife get a job she hates in Arizona, she'll resent you for making the move.

Phoenix area is massive and will be lonely if you don't know anyone.

In general, Texas has more job opportunities than Arizona.

No state income tax in Texas is another plus.

Belton, Texas.

I'd probably have moved there (Georgetown Tx now ) if I was 100% remote.

It’s absurd. Really thinking of renting for a year first.

Pretty sure we discussed this 2 years ago when I first got the position and the package. I have maximized the clock for sure haha.

There's a helluva lot more to AZ than PHX and I've never lost anything in TX though I don't mind visiting from time to time. If it doesn't have to be PHX, look at Sierra Vista, Prescott, Flagstaff, Payson. If someone put a gun to my head and it had to be TX my first look would be Alpine but that's not everyone cup of tea.
