The big bass parade out of Texas shows no signs of slowing down, as Texas angler Jason Conn just added one of the biggest bass ever caught in the state to the list. Conn was fishing on Lake OH Ivie on Monday Feb. 13, 2023

And Josh Jones' douchebag response since he has a thread dedicated to himself today...

For those that don't know Jason Conn is a guide on Lake Fork.

Maybe he is afraid that people will figure out that they don't have to pay him $1k in order to catch big fish.

Is this the 17 lbs bass? because it doesn't look all that big at all with his arms extended toward the camera like they do with little fish to make them look big.

I would have guessed 13. I have one on the wall that was just shy of 11, and that's bigger but it doesn't look 50% bigger.

But it's hard to tell from pictures. Nice fish but I wouldn't have kept it. Weight it, measure it, put it back. Maybe someone else gets that thrill.

Might want to cut it's stomach open to see if it's been feeding on lead weights just to be sure..

He posted those a little while ago.

A guy catches the 8th largest bass in TX history and Jones has to make it about himself somehow.

Like I said, things like that just rub me the wrong way. Say congratulations and go on about your business.

I don’t know the details but I believe in Texas they will take the fish to a hatchery until it spawns then release.

Part of their bass fishing economic development program.

Yup, here's an excerpt from an article,

quote:

Once Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) Inland Fisheries biologists were notified, they quickly got on the road to collect and transport ShareLunker 617 and 618 to the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center in Athens, where biologists are providing the fish top-notch care. Biologists plan to attempt to spawn her with a male offspring of a prior ShareLunker to make bigger, better bass to stock in and enhance fishing in Texas lakes.

During the first three months of the season (Jan. 1 through March 31), anglers who reel in a 13+ pound bass can loan it to TPWD for the ShareLunker selective breeding and stocking program. These anglers can call the ShareLunker hotline at (903) 681-0550 to report their catch 24/7 until April 1.

Imagine how nice it must be to have state programs like this.

I get that, but look at his hand holding the mouth. The bass’s head is pretty big compared to that hand.

Josh is a douche. He got mad and blocked me when he asked about someone taking him turkey hunting for free. I told him for $2k I would take him since that's what he charges folks n

I live on Lake Tyler in East Texas. Last year or the year before some guy caught a 15 1/2 pounder/lake record in a tournament. This may be time to get out to find the big ones but the fishing sucks right now.

Am curious, is it normal to pay a LM guide that kind of money and they are fishing as hard/harder than the client?

Never hired a guide and don’t know the norm on this
