Growing up I remember my dad taking me to some place in Mississippi where there were clear water, pebble bottomed creeks throughout the place. Not sure if it was private or a WMA. I asked him the other day and he doesn’t remember where it was. Any ideas on the closest place from BR I can take my boys hiking to play in some clear streams?

I think Tunica Hills is pretty clear. It has some small waterfalls and is near St Francisville.

You’ll find that in the Homochitto NF.

Clark Creek Natural Area is near Woodville and has lots of good hiking, waterfalls, and some small clear moving water creeks. It is sometimes called "Tunica Falls" which specifically refers to the waterfalls, not to be confused with Tunica Hills WMA in LA (which also has cool hiking but not the waterfalls like Clarks Creek).

Kisatchie is a little further but it has clear streams with sandy bottoms.

Thanks Baws. Tunica is going to be too steep for my 5 year old. Kisatchie is “fairly” flat.

I have been lost in Kisatchie twice. Ahh good times.

Carrying your kid up the hills from the stream is a workout. I've done it many a times.

Lots of them as you get north of I12 and east of I55. We like to canoe/kayak Magees creek south of tylertown and north of franklinton. Clear cool spring fed creek that dumps into bogue chitto. As you get closer to hattiesburg there are several others - black creek, okatoma, leaf river, bowie river. Going west, the ouska chitto is another one before you get all the way to kisatchie.
