I didn’t think you could break those things

This was my first thought when I read the thread title.
I've got an early 90s Honda Recon that just won't die and a mid-2000s Rancher that just keeps ticking as well.

There is a guy on the corner of 9th Street and River Road in Ama who used to work on them. Don’t know if he still does.

Went in garage this morning and all the gas was leaking out. Checked for a hose undone but nothing. Leaking from something that I can’t see.

Float on carb is stuck probably
Fuel came out of over flow hose
Clean carb or buy a $45 chinese carb off amazon or ebay

Turn gas off to carb
Drain bowl on carb
Tap on the side of the carb with something plastic like the back of a screwdriver. It may release the float valve needle.
This happened to me 10 or so years ago and did the steps listed and it has never happened again.

This, and there are a ton of you tube videos showing you how to swap it out, very easy repair. You might get it to unstick but it will do it again. Just replace it and you are good to go for another couple years. Thanks ethanol!

Follow Reb’s advice above.
If that doesn’t fix it after a try or two I’d replace the carb with a OEM one. For that bike they’re not to bad. Ballpark $175. Steer clear of the Amazon ones for that price difference.

Do not buy a cheap one on Amazon. I went thru 3 of em in 2 years and just ordered an OEM from a guy.

Me and you both. 2001 Rancher. Cant get the ES to work. Replaced shift motor and some other diamond shaped doo hickey. Been shifting with armature since. Atv shops are all full for over a year now

Check the oil before cranking

Don’t make the mistake of buying the cheap Amazon Chinese knockoff carb.
Spend the money on the OEM.

While that’s solid advice. There isn’t a low oil alarm or anything on a Honda atv, just a temp light.
Although, while on the subject, you don’t screw a Honda dip stick to check the oil level.

It’s far but Travis at D&A Restoration in Larose knows his shite about ATVs.

Check the molex connection at the base of the steering column going under the bike if that model has on there.
I have to jack the front end of up for a buddy and take it apart and clean it out. It was in a bad spot.
There is a tool on amazon you can use to unseat the pins out of the connector one at a time and clean the pins.
Blue rtv to fill the back of each square opening if needed. Put dialectic grease on the pins before plugging back together.

Make sure it is gasoline not oil with gas in it? Gas usually evaporates pretty fast from concrete. Turn off fuel shut off and move it to a new spot when cool. If it has no puddle you then know it’s the fuel and now you have a clean route to see where gas shows up when you turn shut off valve back on and start the flow again.
Ethanol is a killer on fuel lines and seals on older Models. Like an electrical problem you have to find where there is power/gas and where there isn’t. My son’s older rancher once had a bad seal in the shut off fuel petcock and leaked. A $5 fix.
Unlike other posters I do not ever use anything but OEM parts and fluids. I’m driving a 2004,foreman ES that has been sunk and starts immediately and runs like buttered lightening.
I have fixed all but a differential rebuild using the internet.
Finally if it only leaks when you are done using it and there is no performance problem, turn off the fuel shut off when you park it if you can’t find and fix problem or want to take it to shop.
If you were in Lafayette I’d say Honda of Lafayette. No hype and good reputation. Good luck.
