Want a couple of machetes to work through some brush with some pinky sized saplings. The Tramontina made in Brazil machetes seem to be highly regarded but pretty basic. You have a machete you love? I'm all ears.

I used to have an Ontario knife company machete. They are 1075 carbon steel and are well worth the 40$ they cost. I need to order another one I broke the last one I had hitting a T-post I didn’t know was there.

Definitely don't love them, but I've cut miles of line surveying with a ditch blade.

I have an older, US G.I. Issue machete that works great when I need it. Couple passes with an old bastard file keeps it plenty sharp for my uses…

A small brush blade, the one that is about half the size of a normal one. They are light and easy to swing.

Ive had these from Fiskars for 15 years and are my go-to. Liked the first one so much I bought 2 more for backups. Called a "brush axe" which I think is a poor name. The hook works great for vines especially. I touch up the edge with a chainsaw file. Gerber also makes, or has Fiskars make an exact copy but in green. Those are almost double in price iirc. Fyi, Fiskars makes another similar version that looks like it should be in a zombie movie. I hated that version. Way too heavy for swinging at branches.

Mine is a "Cane Knife". It has a deeper blade than a regular machete and is my favorite brush cutter; except the kind that attach to a PTO. Mine stays strapped to the front rack of my ATV and is always ready.

ETA-Just like Tigerpaw123's pic, great blades right there.

Surprised nobody has posted a pic of Danny Trejo yet.

For me, I love the old style cane knife with a sharp blade and hook at the end on the top side of the blade.

Is you nuts??? You'd spend $330 for a damn machete. P.T. Barnum was right......

I was gifted a SOG years ago that was light weight and sharp. The blade would bend over anything. Someone else gifted me a Kershaw and it’s a much better but heavier machete.

Ordered a couple of Ontario machetes. Cheap enough. Made in the USA.

Though I'm really wanting to order myself one of the Coldsteel Katana machetes

I collect knives so $300 is nothing, but I bought it at a knife show where they give a discount. Think I paid $180.
