We believe local media in NOLA needs to change. Too much on crime, not enough on solutions and practical info.

Verite News, led by seasoned news veterans, is aiming refocus the narrative of local media in NOLA. We're determined to serve, not scare, each other.

First of all, I'm not from NOLA and have never lived in NOLA. So why would I receive this text? Secondly, why would they want to put blinders on the locals about what is happening in their city?

A quick google search says:

So you'd be totally ok if it was your "fat frick" or "old person" who died?

I look forward to the butchered English language and horrible suits.

I can just guess their motto...

Verite News: If we aren't reporting it, it isn't happening.

Hardcore identity politics with little actual community info.

Negative. Grew up in Pineville, lived in BR for a good bit, now live in Denham.

"We seek to sugar coat all the dysfunction and horrific crime in NOLA being carried out by one particular demographic... because covering that is racist. So, we will not cover it and instead gloss over it, excuse it and make up reasons for it (white people, "underserved people"), as well as fairytale unrealistic solutions to better our city."

... the feeling that there is a need to send you a pair of rose colored glasses for better vision because they need to collect those Saints and Pelicans community outreach benefits. If the news doesn't look good, we'll then they can't line the pockets ...

Simple as that ...

Media is there to report what is happening.

It's not media's job to provide solutions for crime. That's the community's and local government's job.

Except when it comes to crime because we really do not want to report with truth, facts, and fairness in covering crime and the perps, who are destroying the city.
