Liberal Arts Colleges / Private Universities and Federal Grants

It is time to take a serious dive into the federal government’s subsidy support for liberal arts colleges and private universities.
These recent on campus demonstrations have me rethinking the correlation between worthless degrees and student loan payback rates.
The federal grants allocation for higher education should be tied to federal student loan programs and the payback / collections rate.
The better your graduates / alumni / former student do with payback of student loans, the better your federal grant allocation.
And finally, these university foundations, for every dollar in private equity, hedge funds, venture capital, etc. is a dollar less of grant allocation.
I guess my biggest question is why do we, the masses / general public, grant unreal amounts of money to private universities and liberal arts colleges when that cash could be going to public universities?

Why should the federal government be sending any cash to public universities either? The only universities that should be receiving federal funding should be the USMA at West Point, the USNA at Annapolis, and the USAFC in Colorado Springs. Apart from those three federal schools, federal funding should not be going to ANY educational institution. It simply is not enumerated as one of the duties of the federal government in the constitution.
Of course, there are a shite load of thousands, if not millions, of other things that federal funding should not be supporting either.
as long as federal dollars are up for grabs by universities, they will continue to create worthless degrees and fields of study in order to entice more students who have absolutely no business being in college to register and attend school on federal dollars that likely will never be paid back. Certainly a graduate in gender studies or women's issues is not going to earn enough to justify the degree. Other degrees are similarly worthless insofar as earnings power goes. The only beneficiary of the federal funding is the university itself, which no longer cares to provide a solid education, but rather is focused upon bringing in more federal funding to the institution to the point of becoming cash gluttons. No real benefit exists for the students who enroll in these low value majors and courses of study.

Hillsdale College accepts no federal funding

Don’t forget USCGA
And the US Merchant Marine Academy.
At a minimum, the federal government should not provide loans to students attending a university with an endowment over $1 billion.
