So we're just going to ignore soaring tuition costs and do this again in a few years?

Not once have I heard Biden or any other Democrat say anything about tuition reform to address the soaring cost of tuition that's far outpaced inflation. Curious. But I'm sure its not because an allied political class dominates the highest levels of academic leadership.

So we get this blanket absolvement of debt for current loan holders but the cost problem still exists for future students until the next batch of Democrats takes power and issues another declaration of forgiveness. Meanwhile the universities see unlocked a new batch of students who otherwise wouldn't have taken on the debt but now bring with them more federally guaranteed dollars so tuition spikes again.

Government fixes problem the government created by creating more problems that the government will fix

I’m seriously thinking about going back to some technical school and sign up for as many thousands of student loans I can and never pay them back. frick are they going to do? Tank my credit? Big deal, that’s going to be useless here in the near future anyways. I’ll make out like a bandit though.

And give banks another half a billion to loan back out at 6% interest. Money the fed reserve gave them at 0%. Get your crumbs while you can people

He has academic institutions pushing his DEI agenda, why would he push for tuition reform. Forgiving loans rewards colleges.

One thing is certain. There should be no forgiveness without explicitly stating how we got here in the first place. And anyone that wants forgiveness should be required to articulate it clearly.

It's just so ridiculous. The conversation is like

Me: Sooo the federal government guaranteed the payment of student loans to universities?

Them: Yes.

Me: And the cost of tuition rose rapidly with this no fail form of payment?

Them: ¯\_(?)_/¯

Me: And then the government told the loan holders don't worry about it, we'll pay it.

Them: Yes

Me: So that made more people want to take out government guaranteed/forgiven loans right?

Them: Yes.

Me: did this cause tuition to rise or fall?

Them: ¯\_(?)_/¯

Lowering tuition is an easy task. You merely cease govt loans and go back to students finding loans from private financial services who assess the risk of you being able to pay them back.
The number of kids who have no business going to college will drop dramatically and colleges will lower tuition rates to survive.

$10k is kind of a nutty number, that’s not going to buy much now a days. My son’s a sophomore in HS and I have $50k saved…Ole Miss or Miss State are both $25+ in-state. We can pay $800+ for school now, so if we swap to saving that upon graduation we MAY have him covered. And that’s not even considering fraternities.

You know kids are leaving those state schools with a shite ton of debt.

Auburn cost $55k/yr out of state.
