South shore... but Tahoe city is my favorite town on the lake

My wife and I really liked Incline Village area. We stayed around the northstar area and it was just to far away from everything, even though it put us between Truckee and Lake Tahoe. We spent the most time in Incline village or the south end of the lake.
If you like the hiking, boating and outdoor activities then you should definitely stay somewhere on the south side. That’s where emerald bay and the good hikes were. It was also where the majority of the casinos were.
The north side of the lake seemed to be where to relax and less crowded. It’s hard to say though because when we went they had just opened back up from covid and it wasn’t a normal year for travel.

The west side towns were more "towny" and I liked them.
I stayed in Incline Village but there didn't seem to be a real walkable town part.
I'll also say I was quite surprised at how Americana Lake Tahoe still is architecturally and I hope that remains for a long time. Even though my first time was during COVID, we loved it.
Really helped that my wife through old family friends knew someone who owns a house on the lake shore. That was by happenstance while we were there and the visit was very cool.
