The project was always going to cause a disgusting smelly eyesore for years. That's why they put it off for so long.

Big Democratic governments funnel all the money to the scam artist like Irvin mayfield, etc…. No more services, just theft to “programs”.

BS. With competency it could be done in months, not years.

The lakes have always had a problem with algae.
Sewer run off ends up in the lakes and feeds the growth of algae.
If we leave alone for enough time when can put a couple of offshore drilling rigs there to drill for natural gas and supply LSU with it.

Bring the Dutch in. Exchange program or whatever they need to call it to get the funding.

Man made canals and lakes are kind of their thing.

But it was determined then the best solution was dredging but the residents blocked it.

Why would the residents block dredging? Yes it will be a mess but the houses will be much more valuable. Right now it’s a permanent shallow pond of scum.

I know it is frustrating looking at the lake or dirt pit with algae now.

It takes time and hopefully it will be deeper.

That part of the lake by I-10 in the early 1980’s and 1990’s had some stumps in the middle that held some nice bass.

I heard there used to be trophy bass in the lake. I’m not sure it would support anything like that in its current state.

They stocked bass in there after they dredged it in the 1980’s.
Came home to visit my family.
Neighbor showed me pics of bass he caught out of the lake.
We went in 14ft aluminum Jon boat with trollmotor 3 am.
Got by the sunken stumps in the middle of the lake.
Used a rebel broken back minnow and caught 15 bass. Most of the bass were 4 to 5 lbs.
Back at home at 7 am.

Hell, half the houses in South Florida are built on fill dirt/rock dredged from the man made lakes and canals created within those neighborhoods.
