NWS forecast for my area says high of 60 on Thursday and low of ll. I don't see ow that's even possible in this part of the world. I just don't believe it's going to get that cold in a few hours time.
This is a hell of a front that is coming through. You'll see 20°+ drops in a matter of hours up and down it.

He will be worse if that blanket gets wet and freezes.

I have experienced a 30 degree temp. drop in an hour before. I don't see why we cant get a 50 degree drop in 2-3 hours

Exactly. I know we aren’t getting rain but there will be puddles.

Bet you can't guess what that brings with it.

I'm actually excited to go hunting in -3 wind chill
I sat in a tree in Kansas for 3 hours while snowing a few weeks ago in 20 degree weather. Didn't really have fun.

Start putting electrolytes in his water if you haven’t already?

I’m pretty sure he’s been getting them since he came back. Barn manager and his owner have been pretty on top of everything. He’s not young so I still worry.
Manager makes a warm feed “soup” as a treat to get more water in them in the cold.

Youre probably thinking this is bringing cold to mix and cool your air.
This is more like a train, just shoving the warm air out of the way. You get that cold bc the air is just that cold behind the front.

Hopefully things stay mostly dry at least from here on out for those of us that planning to travel. Additional rain and a 40 degree temp drop in a matter of hours would make for some icing over.

I hope for everyone that is traveling this is the case. I also hope every bridge around me gets closed so I don't have to go to my inlaws Christmas Eve. Highly unlikely though.

I’m trying it out on a stand that right next to truck and bringing a buddy heater haha

Good news is the air is gonna be dry and you'll have a lot of evaporation or sublimation if it comes to it.

i’m still a little uneasy about the power grid here with ERCOT in Texas with the increased power surge on the grid to heat homes and the forecasted 35mph wind gusts. Filling up the gas cans at lunch today and prepping the generator tomorrow.
Got 2 young kids and titty milk in the freezers, can’t take any chances.

Klark that event is on my mind ..our son and his wife just bought a home in Katy but will be here for Christmas for a week. I'm not sure what to advise that they do other than cover outdoor faucets .. I'm wondering if they should turn off water to the house and drain the lines?

I was reading on that and it seems that only works if you blow out the lines. If you turn off and just drain you may have pooled water in spots that will still freeze.

Well that's out of my scope of practice as a mom. They just already had enough issues after they moved in and I hate to see them have to deal with anymore. If they weren't leaving for a week, I wouldn't be concerned as they'd be there to tend to whatever.

my question also if no winter mix then is there any chance bridges over water/rivers can ice over?
