No National Guard experience, (Only can speak from AD perspective) but if you are a 34 year old (35 after OCS and Schooling) I just wouldn't recommend it. Especially, since your primary motivator is money... find a hobby and make some extra cash from it.
Unless you are used to the extreme structure and chain-of-command culture, it's a culture shock for anyone (Much less a middle-aged baw)
Just my 2 cent, maybe Guard is different.
