The new boots were a moderate success. I instantly knew when I clicked into my skis it was going to be a different experience. The boots require a ton of input to drive them. Theres no casual skiing with them on. I don’t like skiing hard pack and always thought my skis just didn’t have a good edge. I now realize I didn’t have enough boot to push the skis to carve. The new boots transformed the old skis. The downside is they are a pain in the arse to get on and off. There’s a lot going on with the boa liner, stiff shell, power strap buckle, etc. Once they were on, it was fine besides the normal breakin pressure. Since it was a bluebird groomer day, I was able to ski with the bottom boa all the way loose, the liner boa barely snug, and the buckles on the loosest setting while still staying buckled. The power strap is difference maker. I would pull them tight before a run and release the buckle pressure at the end of the run. There’s no Velcro so I was able to release the buckle pressure without having to lift my pant legs. Once they are broken-in and I get a chance to do some tougher skiing in them, they should be great.
