Holoweiko completed his Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) degree in Wind Conducting at Michigan State University as a student of Dr. Kevin Sedatole. He also holds the Master of Music degree in Wind Conducting from the Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University

These degrees have NOTHING to do with marching band. In fact, most of the people who teach these courses HATE marching band.

Holoweko's Resume is very weak from a Marching Band/Drum Corps point of view.

I could totally care less about all the Degrees in Wind Conducting and all the Symphonic BS!

All that has nothing to do with Marching Band and producing a great halftime show!

He has a little Marching Band experience at Michigan State and a Florida High School.

That's a very weak resume indeed to be getting the top spot of TGBFTL.

We shall all see soon enough what he puts on the field........

ColdDuck.....If you're tired of reading my opinions about Tiger Band, then move on.

You sound like one of those pathetic GBFTL Sunshine Pumpers from the Tiger Band Alumni site.

Yep, let's ban everybody that states an opinion that's different from those that are spewed out by Pumpers of all varieties in all LSU Sports. (Including Marching Band)

It’s over. There’s nothing of substance left to say after some kid drops the mic from his momma’s basement by calling someone whose age we don’t know a “boomer”.

Do you guys realize that Linda Moorehouse is now 62 years old. She’s a great director but I doubt she’d be interested in changing her career and taking on such a massive rebuild project at this point.

I’ve known Linda since we were in High School in Gainesville.

Big $$$$$$ might convince her to take on the "Massive Rebuild Project."

We've got to get Talley out of there first, though.

BTW, LSU Head Football Coach Brain Kelly is also 62.

In case anybody is interested, the practice March down Victory Hill will be next Saturday.

I heard that the numbers are down this year...less than 300. Is that true?

That's an embarrassment if true!

325 was too small.

Under 300 would be unacceptable.

350 or more with very heavy Brass is the only way to go for a Marching Band in a large 100,000 plus arena like Tiger Stadium.......

Agree 100%.

The 325 includes the colorguard (normally between 25-30 members), so there are only about 300 actual musicians in Tiger Band. Even Moo State has a bigger band than us.

The REAL story is the "total" numbers are DOWN, and have been down since Roy left. The TOTAL numbers include the total number that auditions for the band. This is why their instrumentation is all screwed up. They are basically not cutting anyone (or very few) to get down to 325. Why is this important? Large audition numbers = larger talent pool to choose from. The quality of the band has declined for two reasons, 1. Smaller talent pool 2. Poor instruction. The current band is "allowed" to play with an immature sound (more like Southern).

Their sound is all over the place for sure. It sounds like there is less brass now than in years past. Go on Youtube and watch some videos of Tiger band prior to Kelvin Jones taking over. Even when Roy King was director, while their quality may have slipped a bit, Tiger Band was still very loud. Now they routinely get drowned out by opposing bands, even at home.

Being from Florida and knowing what I know about the FL HS marching band scene, it's arguably much better top to bottom than what TGBFTL has put out since 2010.

Why would she? She's already knows the politics at LSU, and that's why she walked away in the first place. I would love to have her back, but that ship sailed a decade ago.

Brian Kelly wasn't previously disrespected by LSU admin, so you are talking apples and oranges.
