But how much should they make is the real question? How much is enough? Would these guys even give two shits if they’re just there to collect a paycheck?

It’s a slippery slope to go down.

Sounds like the major issue was the PGA trying to financially capitalize from Netflix on the players NLI and those players weren't being compensated for it. This is why the team unanimously voted to kick Netflix out of the team room and meetings.

I would have an issue if someone signed an agreement where they cashed in on my popularity and I wasn't compensated for it nor had any editing rights of my personal conversations with other players.

The Irish Independent: "Xander Schauffele was threatened with Ryder Cup removal from US team over Netflix row"

Xander Schauffele risked being thrown off the USA Ryder Cup team for refusing to sign a participation contract which would have allowed fly-on-the-wall Netflix docu-series Full Swing access to the Team USA locker room.

It was widely reported before last weekend’s Ryder Cup in Rome that Schauffele and his closest friend in the USA locker room, Patrick Cantlay, had led a move to block Netflix’s access to the team room as they felt players should be remunerated for their participation.

What was not known was quite how close Schauffele came to losing his spot on the team as a result of that stance.
